Dead Pixels

We live in a society.

So here's what happened:
Saturday I turned my monitor and computer off and went out. I came home about 10 hours later and there were dead pixels at the bottom of my screen. It's a half-ciricle that covered about half the "PM" in the time.
Sunday I turned my monitor back on and it was a little smaller. It got bigger throughout the day.
Right now it's bigger and blocking out the minutes and the hour.

Any tips for reviving dead pixels? I tried the super-rapid random-color refresher applet thing and gently poking around in there, which I know is usually not a good idea. I really would like to know what time it is, though. :P

Try Undead Pixel, and if that doesn't work... well, other than getting a new monitor, I have no clue.
BTW, it usually takes hours for the flashing stuff to work. :P

Google it ;o

Maybe last resort after the flashing program: http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor
It seems like your monitor would be dying though, as the pixels are growing? Was there a possibility that someone impacted the monitor? Or do you just leave it on all the time without changes in picture?

The pixels on my iPhone stated dying a while back. It kept getting bigger and bigger until one day I left it out in the sun and it got really hot. Most of the pixels returned. Although I'm not sure how this helps unless as a last resort you'd like to take a lighter to your monitor or something lol.

Is your Monitor CRT or LCD?

If its CRT, it could be that your Monitors CRT is taking a poop, and is going to die soon.

If its LCD...Could be problems with the crystals..

We live in a society.

As an update, I did the flashing for a few hours. It actually made the spot bigger.
Anyway, it seems that the spot is getting smaller as I leave my monitor off. The area of dead pixels is slowly shrinking and receding every day. If this progress continues, it should be back to normal eventually.

The only time I've had problems with dead pixels, it was my graphic card which was broken.

We live in a society.

It's only like three pixels tall and 20 pixels wide now. ALMOST THERE!

:payne:

I remember my iPod having a Dead Pixel popping from NOWHERE one day. For like a week, it was growing like mad. At the end, it covered 10% of the screen.
What was weird about these "dead pixels" is that they were dark pixels only when I had the light on. When the iPod sets itself in economy mode, the pixels would become normal (?!).
Within 3 weeks, the dead pixels just disappeared for some reason and I had my awesome iPod back in the business :)

sounds like moisture control is often a pressing concern in your city
