But yes, that's what these games were made for; sucking the money out of you. I mean, why is there even more than one Guitar Hero? They look exactly the same to me, they just got some new tunes for each one of them. You'd be much better off just downloading new songs for those money-point-thingies online.

And I wonder how much money Activision stabs at reviewing websites to give every Guitar Hero such a high rating all the time, then including many forcefully unnecessary equipment... we seriously need a review system designed specifically for sequels so every single Guitar Hero, and constant sequels would get a dumb down score rating on every release, and therefore decreases moral for developers of ever developing the same thing over and over again at retail price of $50 each.

And why couldn't they simply get every "Guitar Hero" equipment, every song, every downloadable content, every upgrade, every fix ALL in one package called "Guitar Hero 1" back in 2005 without the need of sequels?

None.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

They're all spinoffs of DDR, which has Stepmania, which has the ability to play any song you have with custom steps.

It's a sequel to a good game. There is no story, only songs. I don't see any reason they can't sell 50 songs for $50. That's what it costs on iTunes anyway.

The reason they couldn't do "GH1" back in 2005 was because consoles didn't have hard drives. They run off of discs.

They tweak the engine, and add more features in most releases. Most of them, you need to play everything on expert to notice. (For instance, Metallica added expert and double bass support, while fixing slider notes to be easier to use, GH5 is going to add the ability to play with 4 instruments, in any arrangement.) Smash Hits didn't really add anything, and I agree, they simply could've made it all DLC for GH5 or 4. They only released it because a game always comes out at that time and GH: Van Halen wasn't ready.

They get high ratings because they're fun. And none of the equipment is unnecessary? It's a rhythm game. You use rhythm peripherals. Deal. All the controllers from the past games are still compatible, no one is forcing you to buy new guitars every time they release a game.

Why couldn't they get every song, all DLC, and every upgrade now available for GH in GH1? Well, let's see, first of all, they couldn't get the rights to use all this music at that time. Even if they did, they'd have to include it all on disc, because the PS2 doesn't support DLC. There has been almost 700 songs released for Rock Band alone. A DVD obviously could not fit this.

FURTHERMORE, the original game only supported a guitarist and bassist/rhythm guitarist, had no practice mode, and had a broken engine.

Why wasn't Doom the greatest FPS of all time?
Why wasn't StarCraft 1 in 3D?
Why did the Nintendo 64 only have a 64 bit register?

I bought the Beatles Rock Band yesterday. It's a little easy, but overall, excellent quality. It is not a money grub in any way.

Syphon, since your the resident rhythm game expert, answer me this: Is it just me, or is Rock Band's guitar terrible? The strum bar is terrible if your using all downstrokes, as it doesn't seem to register all of them. The solo fretboard seems like a good idea, but it feels too cramped. I'd have to use it more to decide.

I too think that the guitar hero guitar is much better quality. However, the rockband drums are superior to GH's as far as quality goes, so they even out.

Syphon, have you not heard about milking the franchise?

Also, have you not heard about Audiosurf?

You are just being silly. Up works just as well as down.
The Rock Band 2 Fender Strat is one of the best peripherals out on the market with the only down side that it cannot be used on Guitar Hero II and III.

I would have had it in the video, but it needs new batteries.

The RockBand guitars are indeed terrible. The universally agreed upon best guitar is the PS2 cherry SG, followed by the PS2 black SG. After that, people differ.

I rank them as follows, Wii Les Paul, 360 Les Paul, PS3 Les Paul, PS2 Kramer, The GHWT Frankecaster, 360 Xplorer, RB1 Stratocaster, RB2 Stratocaster. I haven't tried any third party guitars, or the Beatles ones yet.

Yes I have. RockBand has not milked the franchise in any way. There are 4 games. Guitar Hero has, but not as much as you make it out to. It's especially bad because the Wii can't do game patches, and the game is most popular on it, so every update needs a new game.

And audiosurf is terrible.

The original quote was better D:

Quote
RoryFenrir: So I got guitar hero 4 yesterday and its pretty cool
but I started noticing some problems with the new guitar...
Im wondering if any of you are having these same problems, and if you guys know how to fix.
Dark_Marine: Incenrator. Go get a real guitar. :D
Syphon[MM]: Fuck off, some people don't want to learn how to play guitar.
You might as well tell everyone who bought Call of Duty to go join the army
or all GTA4 players to go kill a fucking hooker.

Problem A. Cant join the SAS.
Problem B. Cant fight the Russians.
Problem C. I place horrible air strikes, so Ill never get a 'fun' position. ( 1 in 7 hit anything, and 1 in 10 actually hit 2 or more enemies )
Problem D. ACOG Scope is gonna be a pain in the ass to get ( http://swfa.com/Trijicon-35x35-Acog-Rifle-Scope-P553.aspx 1,100 fucking dollars.)

Solution. Play CoD4 or the upcoming sequel.
