Brush Project
This project is about providing brushes for any terrainer. These include only high-quality blends and shouldn't have any blockiness
[/line]
What?Brushes are a bunch of blends saved under a specific file which can be imported into your map editor. The one provided are for SCMDraft 2 only. Sorry for the inconveniences.
Why?Brushes are, in my opinion, more useful than a map in the way that it saves you time from copy-pasting a lot of stuff individually and from switching from a map to an other.
Of course, if you are searching a specific blend, trying to find it "visually" with the help of the
Palettes might be a good idea.
How?How to use the brushes might be a bit confusing at start. Reading
this might help you out
Also be aware that you
do not need to give any credit for the usage of any blend taken from these Brushes.
Who?Any user of SCMDraft 2 can use them.
They are really useful for the lazy terrainers or the ones that want to quickly make some custom pieces of terrain.
Most of the blends are from
samsizzle, stickynote, WoodenFire, Howler and myself. Of course, there are other terrainers' blends, but I cannot compile them all.
Any new brush should follow the format implemented into the "Trees" and "Stacked Cliffs" brushes.Post Scriptum: You could wish to have some luck and find some more brushes from me
here, but they most likely either suck or be identical to these ones.

None.
Yes, but for the whole community too

Yay, someone actually participated
Thanks
By the way, brushes aren't compatible for all editors?
And the only think I'd ensure is the fact that there is ZERO blockyness into the blends provided. You can include sprites in the brush if you want.
None.
Are we allowed to use these brushes freely if we give credit to you, zell and other people who donated the brushes? The ramps ruins terrain has been really useful to me.
None.
Personally, in the totality of my brushes, there's like only 1 or 2 blends that are from me so, give credits to other if ever you find who made which blend xD
I can tell you most of the ramps were from Falk's terrain compilation and WoodenFire's Crescent Dyne.
Use them as much as you can
It's there for that purpose
If people could make more brushes, I'd be happy
None.
Well, I just wanted to tell the community I had updated the Terrain's wiki so now people can get to actually know that brushes exists:
http://www.staredit.net/wiki/TerrainAnd by the way, we still need people to do brushes
If someone could get Rory to do a brush for his Badland's buildings, it would be awesome
Also, Devourer, you've said you'd do some brushes for Twilight ;o
None.
im gonna make a brush full of some random blends in a bit.
-EDIT-
ok here it is.

None.
Actually, samsizzle, you should divide your brush into more pieces and make them clearer so people can get to create fastly something with it. Right now, you show up to 9 blends in a single piece xD
Plus, the ruin path and the temple doodads are already provided by my own brushes.
For the High Cliffs and the two water thingy, add extensions and more flexibility. We only have middle/corners part, gives us the core part: the edges.
I hope you understood what I meant >.<
None.
I made a brush for basic Badlands buildings (only the lighted buildings) as well as some doodads to place at the bottom in order to customize your buildings. The way I labeled it could get pretty confusing, so I also provided an example building made with terrain found in the brush in order to find out what goes where.
Happy terraining

Hey guys,
I really like this project idea, however, as good of an idea as it is, it needs some organization and management.
Admittedly I don't have the time/interest to do it myself, but I think in order for this to be successful, a less 'everyone go make brushes' and more 'everyone make brushes of this type, we combine them into a single file (Such as a general 'Ramps' brush file,) and then we move on to the next one. (Cliffs, bridge variations, ect.)'
Focus on one tileset at a time (Jungle obviously would be a great start as we already have some material.), and one type of brush, and after that tileset is covered, move onto the next one.
Something like this:
Jungle:
-Ramp brush file
-Cliffs brush file
-Doodads brush file
-Temple and Ruins brush file
Reason being is when using the ones we currently have in SCMD its very confusing, nothings really ordered right, and its a bit of a hassle. An organized system would much more easily achieve the goal of brushes, which seems to be to make terrain easier for everyone.
Really, the problem with mine is the fact that it goes in alphabetical order. I could put a number next to each thing to put it in the order I want it to be if anyone is going to use it.
There's an underground project creating uber brushes and they will be more organised.
I cannot reveal the biggest reason why it is being done, by the secondary one would be that this underground project also includes a Terrain wiki uber update
I think including Excalibur to this project wouldn't hurt ;o
None.
Brush project inspired me to get working on some terrain I've been procrastinating on. It isn't exactly brush project related, but I thought I'd share.
I have actually completed terrain for my project in under 1 day thanks to brush project.
None.
yeah this brush project is fantastic. Good job to everyone and payne.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face
I haven't used brushes before, do they include doodads and/or sprites? Cos I can make traffic lights and other doodaddy brushes if so (probably copied of roryfenrir XD.)
And for badlands buildings, would I make the whole building in on brush? Or just have the bottom, top, and one bit which can be copy pasta'd for a building that goes as high as you want?
Red classic.
