-4x+3x-4+4=4x-4x-3+4 (this is the step I hate the most in basic algebra, it makes the equation more confusing)

I also like to show work just out of habit, and it helps when you're going over it and checking your work or when you're doing something complicated so you don't find yourself making a silly mistake. Instead of having to retain all the information mentally when taking a test and maybe screwing something else, you just write it down and then you won't have an issue with it. But that's just my personal preference, I could care less what other people like to do. It's not my problem when they complain about teachers saying they haven't shown enough work.

Amen to that. I was able to find the answer instantly to virtually any problem given in 6-8'th grade (and before) - but noo, I had to write out the friggin problem, simplify it, do the same with another (double variable double equations), graph both, and check the intersection. I mean, come on, you could guess and check that and find the answer in less then a minute. Or substitute. Or subtract.

As stupid as it may seem, having to show steps/work
is what math is about; it's about proving and showing
exactly how you get your answer. Not doing is like not teaching anything about the periodic table in your chemistry class. You may argue, "but it's so damn simple! ANYone can see how I get from here to here." As your "math" subjects get harder and more complicated, you will realize that showing your work IS required, not for the teacher/grader's sake, but for your own sake too; algebra and that stuff alike train you in the future to be able to show work. Again, algebra and that stuff aint math; it trains you on the fundamentals such as showing work and being patient as you are writing down the steps.

I can understand that I need to used to it in the showing your work way for the future without actually showing my work. Graphing circles is so easy and fun!!!. Currently im programming my calculator to handle all my physic equations and experimenting with game-esque type things where everything is dug into a single loop statement that updates the screen as computer games work.
I wrote a program that would create random circles on the graph, then move them around on the graph. Was fun!!!!!

I dunno what you're taking, I'm a sophomore in Honors Trigonometry, so I haven't done anything beyond circular functions in terms of graphing. I just hate making the goddamn curves, they never turn out right and I have to get it perfectly because I'm obsessive over shit like that.
