IF you are going to covert money into civs, I think you should have to have a building which costs a large amount of money and can only be built outside of base. This way if you are going to use this to get civs, you either have to use a massive amount of cash to cannon it and build it. Or sit there protecting it, thus getting no XP.
Level 4 - Dimensional Fracture: The physicist's only true offensive spell. Spawns a Carrier with 4 inteceptors for the Physicist that do 75 + 5 dmg for 120 pulses.
If you do this, I'd make it 8 interceptors with less damage, and after the time is up it spawns a scout wherever a interceptor was.

When the spell was written, Temple had 75 armor. That's why I did it that way.
So here's a semi-random hero idea:
Hero Name: Terror
HP: 4500
Unit: Scantid
Spells:
L1: Slaughter Claw: Summons a zealot (non-hero; should be changed so that it can be upgraded with +2 total per level, which shouldn't be too much of a bother as zealot spawns are crap right now and should probably be messed with anyway). The zealot must remain within a certain radius of the hero or it dies; there's no effect duration after which the zealot disappears, but it's not invincible. Maximum 2 zealots out at once.
L2: Panic Breath: Create a devourer over the hero. It can move freely but disappears (and is wasted; there's no effect if it's lost in this way, making it the opposite of Assault's projectile, which does nothing on contact, but has an effect at the end of its time) after a certain amount of time. If it touches an enemy, the devourer is removed and the following effect occurs: A small location is centered on the enemy hero. If the victim leaves the small location before the effect's duration (should be a bit shorter than Volt L1's stun) finishes, they lose 20 mana and the effect's duration is restarted.
L3: Death Sting: Like the L1 but with a guardian (1 maximum) instead of zealots. Guardian damage should be somewhere around 50+7 (adjust as necessary), and its health / starting armor should be 300/10.
L4: Hell Blossom: Like Mutant's L2 except that you're invincible for the duration (otherwise you'd surely kill yourself), and instead of one wave of lings, three successive waves of invincible Infested Terrans.

I think we're getting desperate. Even my Monk was a stretch with using critters, having characters that are almost purely spell based are not going to be easy to balance at all.
None.
I like hell blossom, but only if it looks as cool and rapid as tons of burrowed lings attacking.
i also like hell blossom seems very kamikaze
though itd be sweet to make a high hp class with splash damage attacks that tend to splash himself, but death sting is alil silly how few characters can hit air

Put a 90-second cooldown on the spell and that wouldn't be a problem. lrn2usecooldowns
How about you just leave this topic forever. I've seen your posts in other people's topic with suggestions and OMG COOL sppelz for them to use, but it didn't bother me because you never posted here. Now you're trying to spread your cancer to an actually good map, and to top it all off you talk down to people who have been playing longer than you've been posting here. I'd tell you giving a spell a 90 second cool down is a stupid idea, but if you can't already see why it is then I shouldn't waste my breath.
tl;dr: You're annoying
Forgive me for trying to help. You were saying that it would be way to easy to spam it, and I offered a solution. You could just as easily said "lol no" and I would have shut up without any problem. You could have even told me "You are a noob at mapping, go make some maps and you will have better ideas." and I would have listened. But instead, you decided to attack me. Why?
And, I don't post "OMG COOL sppelz". Where did you get that?
As for me "spread your cancer to an actually good map", I'm trying to help. If my ideas are stupid, just say that and I'll listen.
And who was I talking down to? I admit my sense of humor sometimes comes off sounding like an insult, and I apologize for that. I am trying to be less annoying, but it's hard. I could go on for hours about why I have problems not being annoying and probably make several people emo in the process, but I'm not going to.
tl;dr: NO NEED TO FLAME PEOPLE.

Just here for the activity... well not really
$$$ to civ is pretty rigged. This is basically using assims to farm. Just sit there and spam cannons around the assim.
If any amount, 100+ minerals for a civ
guy lifting weight (animated smiley):

"Oh, I see it"
the option of trading minerals for civs should only be open when the three warpgates are destroyed.

i agree because thats about as likely to happen as a visible shooting star in visible range of any one given person.
None.
Actually, that's not a bad idea. There really needs to be some advantage created for destroying the warp gates, because right now you pretty much just put everything on the line by doing so. If you destroy the warpgates, you're saying "I can win the game with however much exp I have right now."
Kind of dumb. =o

I don't understand what is with all these changes.
Mech's L4, I saw that it was gimped. It is like the same thing as Archer's l4. You only die in 1 hit if you are RIGHT near it.
Also, everything is being changed and reduced while the problem that stemmed from the start is still there. Marine is still overpowered.

15+2 really isn't overpowered. Certainly not as much as before, you see a lot more mines, anyway. =p
None.
I'd have each time you use it increase by like 25-35mins each use.
I actually like this idea more than just making civs expensive. Maybe not +25 to +35 though, perhaps +15 is more reasonable so it does not grow super-fast.

look at the tournament .. and replays are also seeded smwhere in this giant thread...
I'll take all spell ideas into consideration. I'd probably include them if they Either fit my current thought up themes... or is better than my current ideas.
idk what tourny your talking about but ive checked everyone ive found and have seen no replays. as for this giant thread containing them i will have to look into that as well ive only got through the last 15 pages though so it will be a while.

Sorry everyone, the Physicist is the only good proposed character in the past 7 pages IMO. He seems like a class that people would actually WANT to play and could possibly be balanced, though not necessarily balanced in his current incarnation. Critter-based summoner, Arbiter-based vulture, and Light-Mage knockoff... sorry guys, keep trying.
Mins for civs is a terrible balance idea, but you guys might be on to something if you allow it only if all of the enemy warp gates are destroyed. At that point, mins would be the ONLY source of XP. Of course, don't be dumb and make the cost of the civ cheaper than 35, otherwise you'll have people buy more civs with civs that they bought.

For the pubbies, I request a version which forces randomized choose. Certainly all it is is moving the units onto the random beacon/ordering them to move to it. Too may games have I played where host just rmakes cause some noob chooses, and host is an idiot.
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
Does it really make that big of a difference? I random every game and would rather everyone on the other team picks, it saves the "ugh I hate this class" complaints. Tell the host he's an idiot and to stfu and play and they usually stay to argue with you long enough to forget why they were going to leave.

Obviously you don't know that marine in general is rigged when there is upgrade. Special Ops has high HP + Spamming upgrades and there was a decent counter, which was mech and somewhat mutant. But now they are both gimped.
