Incidentally, something like that was going to be a 4th 5th option to consider, upon a recent thought I just had...

Just Here For The Pie

Tux, we should totally collaborate to make the (newest) greatest movie map on the internet!

Show those movie map haters what for.

:wtfawesome:

I'd love that, if I were doing a movie map. Or if I weren't already convinced Starcraft collabs are invariably failures waiting to happen.

If you can convince me otherwise, I'd seriously consider it.

Just Here For The Pie

Practically my last half dozen maps were collaborated with other StarCraft goers!

They are all FLAWLESS.

So, yeah, if that does not get you, good luck with your other stuff!
Just remember, it will not be as FLAWLESS.

How do you manage it? The few times I tried it I either made a mess of overplanning things, and then reverted to doing it all myself, or delegated tasks that didn't get done, and ended up doing them myself anyway. Part of the problem was because of the "pass the baton" map making limit imposed on us, as I recall.

But to be fair, that was a long time ago...

Well, collaborative efforts do not need to be all triggers and locations.
They can be mapping the terrain, writing the script, chopping sounds, and overall generating cool input.

That is my idea of collabs.

Yeah. And with copy and paste and text triggers via. Scmdraft, even those could be delegated, now.

Hmm...

Did you get your idea yet? imo if your not then you might as well get a head start on SC2. Making a truly epic map in SC1 takes about a month or more. Not saying making a map on SC2 will be really quick but cool little games should only take a few days to make. The quicker you learn about the SC2 editor the faster you'll reach your epic map of SC2 :D

Haven't played it yet. I'm not sure whether or not I'll do any maps for it, though.

Starcraft 2 is even better for making maps with less limitations :O

Edit : decided to read your post (fully) and i see that you said your rush rpg sucked 0_o... you don't give yourself enough credit as some people worship the ground you walk on for the work you've done on starcraft map making no matter how obscure

Astrogears 2.0... but without the suck.

Wormer will cum if you will do this:) We have discussed Astrogears with Wormer many times (even in some russian forums)

Oh fuck your bandwagons. You guys haven't seen a real movie yet!

I dont have any opinion about movie maps, and currently I think that movie maps can be interesting, if pro map maker will create it.

Only movie I created is a 50-min youtube video of my Z map:)

BTW: Do you plan to use EUD Actions (via enabler) in your movie maps?

P.S. I wonder - what movies will be on SC2...

Here, I'll just re-iterate my main set of priorities now:
  1. Mystery Project #1
  2. Warbox Site
    1. Deploy Mystery Project #1
      1. Mystery Project #2 (extends #1)
    2. Personal page
    3. Mystery Project #3 (you'll like this one!)
    4. Deploy community and projects
  3. Starcraft map wrap-up (I might just give up on these after all...)
  4. Browser-based game development

Truthfully, it might be a while before I get back to gaming stuff. I consider it well worth it, though, but I'd have to start talking about my mystery projects to illustrate why, and I might have to then kill you then.

I'm actually thinking of redoing some of my maps as browser-based games, later. It seems viable to do this now. You all can stop bitching about me not using "modern" technology, and I can stop putting up with SC/Blizzard-related headaches. Win win for everyone.

Ultraviolet -- Yeah, I suppose there's something to that

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless
[2024-5-06. : 5:02 am]
Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value
[2024-5-06. : 5:01 am]
Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Ultraviolet -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
[2024-5-06. : 12:51 am]
Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
