My fellow MMembers,
Due to the port issues a lot of us seem to be having, I have talked to Corbo and decided that it would be in the best interest of mod night to try using Hamachi. For those of you not familiar, Hamachi is a virtual LAN client that will allow us to use SC's LAN (UDP) function to play games up to 8 players without lag or issue no matter the ports. This will allow mod nights to return to their former attendance and glory. However, this will not work if we do not all get together and make it work. I know a lot of us are busy with school/life/things less important than mod night, but I am sorely sick and tired of missing mod night due to ports, and even more so watching how inactive it has been. I am going to make every effort to make mod nights fun and awesome again but I cannot do this alone. Here is what I need from you: -Get Hamachi. https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp?lang=en -Install Hamachi, and make sure to check the box saying Disable Vulnerable Windows Services. Otherwise anyone on the network can go into your files. After Hamachi is installed, you want to click the second button on the bottom left and select join an existing network. Network: Mod Night 1 Pass: Mod Night 1 After doing so you should see other mod nighters listed there. Next, you have to set Hamachi to the first network to be used when SC goes to find games on the LAN. This is different for XP and Vista users. On XP: Network Connections Advanced Advanced Settings You should see Hamachi, Local Area Network, and possibly Wireless Network Connection all in a box. Using the arrows on the side of said box, move Hamachi to the top of the list. On Vista: For Vista: Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center, then, on the left side panel, click on 'Manage Network Connections'. Now press Alt, click on Advanced > Advanced Settings and put Hamachi at the top of the list. After that, everything should be set up and you should be able to play just fine. You may need to restart Hamachi, SC, and your computer in order for the changes to take effect. If anyone notices anything I missed, please feel free to say something. You should be able to do it fine. Install hamachi and report any errors and I'll try to help.
Edit: I only see Kevin, Flyinghat, and ForTheSwarm in the network right now. Mod Night is tonight guys, get on it! Edit: Mod Night 2 / Mod Night 2 Mod Night 3 / Mod Night 3 Created as back up networks just in case. We shouldn't need to use them.
