So, I've spent a long time on the internet in my lifetime. A long time. But I have never come across something as mind boggling as Akinator. I've picked random NFL players, I've picked random video game characters, I've picked the Announcer from TF2, and yet this thing still manages to guess what I'm thinking. Try it out.

I remember someone posted this in the Shoutbox last year and I did end up finding one it didn't know. Can't remember what it was, though.

Yeah, there are certainly a bunch of things it doesn't know. I think it's best stumping it on something it SHOULD know.

It knows Starcraft pretty well though, haha.

And yeah, I find it can guess most things. I've chosen some pretty obscure anime characters before, it does them no problem.

I taught it who the pilot of a Thor is. It got pretty close, though. It tried to guess a colossus, a goliath, and a vulture.

Yeah, this website seems to come back every year.

The French version is better than the English one.

People add content to it when it doesnt exist. Its a growing database of characters and places. It doesnt actually read your mind per say, its already gotten to specifications from another person.

He didn't know Aidan (Diablo, son of King Leoric)...

Anyhoos, on-topic the most mind blowing thing it ever guessed for me was Rufus the dog in Red Dead Redemption who's only mentioned like twice.

It can't get Gregor MacGregor, after 40 questions.

Took this thing 40 questions (3 repeats if Im not mistaken though) to get Hank from Madness Combat.

If you think about it, it's really obvious why it works. Every question has a 1/5 (or 1/4, not sure if the middle one counts) chance, so every time you answer you fifth the amount of possibilities (ideally). If you have 1,000,000 possibilities then it only takes 9 questions to be certain.

It runs off 3 choices, the middle two are trivial at best, but it prefers to run with yes or no answers. The only time a ? would be the answer to a question is when it finds a question that was accidentally assigned to the character that has never been asked before.
