Oops, wrong forum. Meant to put it in computers and tech ... I thought I specifically clicked computers and tech. xC

Does anyone know of any amazing compression out there? I tried .7z, but it has proven to be too large for what I am looking for. >.> I've spent the past 4-5 hours tweaking settings in small increments to get the best compression, and the best I could come up with is 20%.

Compressed with this, but individually, the files are like this (based on Archive summary):
1. Length=1220608, Packed Length=480973, Ratio=39%
2. Length=409600, Packed Length=187907, Ratio=45%
3. Length=9154052, Packed Length=1488784, Ratio=16% (MPQs compress really nicely. :O)
4. Length=557310, Packed Length=182266, Ratio=32%
5. Length=127767, Packed Length=46194, Ratio=36%
(Packed Length=2386124/Length=11469337 = 20.8%)

Complete File:
Length = 11,469,337
Packed Length = 2,325,193 (Slightly smaller than the individual ones added. xD)
Ratio = 20%

I may be able to tweak this more, but it really only shaves off like 1kb.
I'm looking to get it below 2,232,729 (Same files in an MPQ within RAR.)
MPQ within .7z gives 2707KB... which is greater than what I have.

Yay. I compressed it to 1697KB, which is smaller than 2180.4KB.
Still, better compression givegivegive.

It doesn't do much if it is a well compressed MPQ... If it is not a well-compressed MPQ then it compresses it to about what it should be.

.7z is the best compressor I know of. What exactly are you trying to do?

You could try .tar.bz2 to make sure that any similarities between different files get compressed. Or if you still want to use 7z, you could try making an archive with all of the files added uncompressed, then add that archive into another archive with maximum compression. These are pretty much similar methods, though if you used .tar.bz2 you can use a utility that would treat it as a single compressed archive instead of probably needing a temporary extracted copy.

I think I have good compression... If I have two similar files I can add them at the same time and it will compress to just over the size of one. Also I found a way to compress it a lot by compressing other files inside.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
