Perfect X or +

I need a method of creating burrowed lurkers so that when they are all placed, they will be arranged in a perfect X or +

I was thinking about using a mobile grid and just creating a lurker at the spot on the grid i needed, then making another grid based off of that and blah blah blah but that won't work because its possible for air units and ground units to inhabit the place where my grid would be and distort it

I was also thinking about creating a devourer and ordering it to move in the direction of the symbols i wanted to create. Also, while the devourer was moving I would create lurkers underneath it thus creating the lines for the symbols.
(Like if i wanted to make a + i would order the devourer up, move it back to the center.. order it down, move it back to the center.. order it left, ect)
But i don't know how i would order the devourer straight up or down or w/e >.<

One LAST thing i was thinking that might work was creating a mobile grid of burrowed units, but thats impossible -.-' so i trashed that

Any Ideas?

Well, if the grid is intended to be in just one (or a few) locations, then you can make a static grid. Basically you place some burrowed zerg units in the shape you want, then you center a location on them, create a lurker there, give the burrowed unit at that location to another player, then repeat. After you finish you want to give them all back to the original player so that you can repeat this process.

[PLAYERS]
[*]Any

[CONDITIONS]
[*]Always

[ACTIONS]
[*]Move location labeled 'whatever' to zerg zergling at anywhere
[*]create 1 zerg lurker at location 'whatever' apply properties
[*]give 1 zerg zergling owned by p9 (or whoever) at location whatever to p10 (or whoever)
[*]preserve trigger

You could move all the air units away, do the mobile (air) unit grid and then move them back. If you are willing, you could put a location on each of the air units individually so when you move back they are in the same spot. (Granted there won't be too many in at any given time.

As for moving straight up, You could center a location 1x(map height) (coordinate grid concept) and have a row of a units at the top of the map. Then you center a location on the unit at the top of the map in the 1x(map height) location and order it to move there (same idea for bottom/left/right. This is probably a little much for making a simple + though (unless its really important, of course)

Simple- Make room for the grid.

METHOD 1

Have a big ol'e Location over the area where you have your ... X or + of lurkers....
Lets call this "World"(This affects air only)

Now, we have a Location.
X1

Basically, Center X1 on Any unit in the location "World".
Create a unit that wont move or attack. Move the previous air unit to a designated area away from gameplay.
Repeat till all units are gone.
Run the grid
Clean up the grid
Put the original units back.

Now, you will run into a problem. How does the computer designate which units go where?
You can solve this By Either giving the replacement or substution units to separate players (like inactive computers or something)
-OR-
You can have different units to be placed at each location.

METHOD 2

This method recycles Locations
You will need the same locations, but more..It depends on how many units are scrambling through. Just do 2 more than what youd expect to be there at the time of the grid happening to be safe.
Then you use one unit, keep the locations where they are, and then do your buisness with the grid and replace back the original units and continue gameplay.

Hope you understand what i explained. If you don't, thats completely understandable, I'm half awake here, and will happily explain it a second time.
If you do understand, I love you.

Damn, you beat me by 24 seconds... But i wrote all this up!!! Hahahahaha  ^^

o, sry... i left out some stuff >.<

This effect can be created at random places not just in 1 or a few. It is triggered by a player moving their DT close enough to any other enemy unit.. and they're units can be anywhere around the map =\

edit: ooo, i see i see... Yeah moving units away, creating my symbol, and moving them back might work.. although what if the units are moved to the place where the X is being created? The whole map is accessible to the players so there is nowhere that it can be guaranteed that they wont create the grid... I can move the units to a place that is really unlikely though..
so thanks people, this was easier to solve than i thought : )

but im still curious, is there any way (besides placing units or locations 1 by 1 across the top/down the side of the map to make a unit move in a straight up, down, left, or right motion?

Same methods apply (as stated previously)

If you need it spelled out further I can.

Yes... This is a rather hard concept to understand... I must admit...

You fine with that ZzEzZ?

As for the first part, you can make several possible places to move the air units away to and if one of them has anything interfering, pick a different spot.

As for the last part, yeah a mobile grid heh.

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

I'd say a coordinate grid is your best bet
