I have a fear of infinity since I was young, but now-days it has gotten really severe to the point that
I feel like I'm dead. The subject of infinity usually appears in my mind whenever I have nothing else to do.
This is actually affecting my daily life and rituals. I once had such heavy fear that:
-I couldn't breath.
-Couldn't speak.
-My knees tremble.
-Cannot explain.
-Dizziness
-Sweating
-Urge of throwing up, which I eventually did.
-Cripple effect
Those happens whenever I think about, bent space, 1/0, Under my feet is a rock and below the rock is... or even the movies and games such as "Portal by Valve" or "men in black" in the end part of the movie, if you have seen.
Please help me. This is driving me insane. Help is appreciated.

A wise man once wrote
Quote
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

Consider your fear a survival mechanism.

Brownie points to whomever recognizes the above.

Yeah, i know, but still awesome.

Back on topic, i have never really heard of this fear before, but i guess it makes sense. I'm sure we have all tried to think about such topics and since we can't really perceive infinity, it may frighten, same way you can't picture non-existence/death, maybe its part of the same thing?

They actually make sites to deal with this kind of thing. Google one of those.

Is it because you can't comprehend infinity? I'm kinda confused on how someone can be scared of infinity... :/

I used to have fever-dreams about infinitely big objects shrinking to infinitesimally tiny objects, and back again. It used to torture me, I think because I was experiencing the combination of two vastly opposite elements, the closest thing my mind could comprehend to experiencing infinity. I used to dread getting these dreams again, but then I started getting 'flashbacks' and I learned to 'ride' them and let go instead of clench up when they happened.

Infinity is really scaring. I realizard that while studying math ;o
Still, the universe is not infinite, neither the space can be infinitely divided. So looks like that nature also runs away from infinity. Infinity only exists in the math world.

If the universe is still expanding though, that means that there's something else, right? And if it can hold the universe (possible others?) then it could, technically, be infinite.
I would think it's hard to be afraid of something the human mind can't even comprehend, but that's me, and I don't like peeking out of my own little world too much.

We live in a society.

The Ultimate fate of the universe depends on what the Cosmological Constant is.

This kinda involves theology now, doesn't it?

No. They're scientific theories.

Perhaps you should read the articles. Theological theories are only a small part of it. The Shape of the universe is also important for this.

Pfft. Just start thinking about some really philosophical questions. That will get you scared.

Of course, nothing scares me. It's all fun.

BTW, YOUR FEAR IS STUPID. HAHA I LAUGH AT YOU.

I brought up theology because of the whole "God created Earth" thing, and if that's true, then what caused the big bang?

We live in a society.

"God created the Earth" was around before anyone theorized the Big Bang. (ie, Earth was everything that was known. Saying God created the Earth was a way of saying that God created existence.) I'm sure that if we came up with the religion aspect after the Big Bang developed, we would've said that God set the Big Bang and such in motion.

And this is where the whole Theology comes up...

But back to my idea of being outside the universe. If it's expanding, what 'space' is it taking up? It can't really expand into nothing, can it? Or is there something actually outside of everything?

Thats still a physical question, answer which to which is not currently known and possibly impossible to comprehend. Lack of comprehension != theology.
