Well, some strings in game change colour to grey, why is this???

When you use the grey color, and then another color right after it, the grey "overrides" the next color somehow. I doubt anyone knows why, but thats just how it happens. Don't use grey until the end of a string.

To clarify slightly - using the grey colour code will override *all* other codes until the end of the string.

You can use overlaps to combine grey and [insert colour here] in a rather tasteful manner.

but what about in breifings? it sometimes turns into black

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.
Most of the available colors in briefings are black.

I'm interested to know what possible use invisible could have that couldn't be done with the spacebar.
Using it to do overlapping can be helpful, or so I've heard, so you can get the right lengths of text.
