OVERWATCH STATUS GO

Yeah, it's set up in such a way that we can remove mineral gains in those forums. On the other hand, we can also remove mineral gains for topic creators, so only those who answer questions can gain minerals. It can still be exploited in a similar fashion, but not as easily at least.

I think it's a good idea to remove mineral gain from topics and posts of the topic creator in assistance forums. Or at least severely limit it.

Makes sense to me too.

P.S. I am not posting in the Assistance for minerals-purposes... just stop it! Sorry for being nearly the only goddamn active SEN mapper! And sorry for being the only one of those that isn't able to learn on its own also. There's also that if you read the answers I got, they are always partial, and when I post after it and ask for "in-depth" explanations, I get an other incomplete (to me) answer.
And anyways, since Devlin doesn't seem like he's going to give me minerals for my Wikis, and since most of the knowledge I used to create those came from the answers of the Assistance forum, I believe I deserve those minerals.
Now, gtfo, stop crying, start mapping.

At least it's not like what 7-7 did
If money is to be made easily in the assistance forums, that doesn't mean that you should remove minerals from there, or reduce it. Especially since it is a forum involving sc2, and it's basically what SEN is for.

If a moderator notices that a question keeps getting asked, they should close the forum and declare the thread solved.

I dunno, I think we should be encouraging people to ask questions, so that they can become better map-makers. It'd also be helpful to others; whenever someone asks a question publicly, chances are there are several more people who wanted to know the answer but didn't bother to ask. Sure, maybe people could figure things out on their own given enough time, but if the answer is there, they'll get better faster, and the improvement will also be available to those who are not going to spend the effort learning on their own: both of which will mean better maps, which is surely a good thing, and a better reputation for SEN in terms of helpfulness.

Of course, redundant posts are still spam and can be dealt with accordingly. But that's a different issue.

I have to agree that there isn't really a need to reduce mineral gain in a forum like Assistance. If a member is abusing the system in order to unfairly gain minerals, this is something that can be identified and dealt with on a case-by-case basis using mineral fines and severity raises.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

I think that with removing minerals for the OP alone, people still get rewarded for helping in assistance when they reply with their own solutions. Even though I do believe payne isn't trying to abuse the system, this really did come about when he went on a reporting spree to have us add [Solved] tags on a lot of topics, and it became apparent that some of the threads he started in Assistance were actually solved by him.

And payne, I haven't given anyone minerals for the Wiki articles yet. It's not just you.

Not giving minerals doesn't mean I don't want to encourage asking of questions. I thought Aristo cleared that up already.

All I want is that questions are asked for the sake of getting a problem solved and not for the sake of minerals. And I'm saying this because payne wasn't the first to be suspected of mineral whoring. And as with payne it was quite difficult to be sure of the posters intentions so we let it slide. If they don't gain minerals this problem is solved. Yes, as usual one black sheep makes everyone else suffer from regulations and yes technically that's unfair but you can't just tell people to behave and play fair. Some just won't, such is life and so we need regulations.

I wish that I could give karma to this post, but alas :P

SEN is a command economy (not that there is much of an economy... :awesome:). Extra money supply won't do much anyways, payne.

You think? I don't. And I know it's only a matter of time until SEN gets it's economical boost. :>

How many command economies get stimulus packages?

But that just gave me a good questionable. idea. For the next contest, if this is approved, how about the top place poster earns a smaller amount, but gets double minerals for posts relating to his map that are not deemed spam? [2nd would get something like 1.5x, and 3rd 1.25x) Of course, this would make some more work for the staff (to decide what is spam and what is not), but it could potentially increase the turnout for a contest]

superfluous and would require coding. Since we don't have a coder, it would never happen.
