I'm seeing the same as Merrell.

Hey, so the minerals are "fully implemented" .. but what does that mean?
Does it mean we can give minerals now? What about mineral sponsorship... and showing # of minerals below people's avatar//somewhere at the person's post?

Btw .. Sen Tv ... I'd LOVE to do reviews.. tho I have no clue how to make videos :P

EDIT: Some other things:

1. I think the Thread Titles i.e. Portal News, Staredit.net, SCI Contests, and etc, should be a darker font, as the little background blend makes the words hard to see

No, it will actually be as close to Carbonite as I can get it.
Oh god, based on your version of the SEN v6 skin I am not optimistic about this at all.
I believe it was Devourer's, but rofl! XD

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

It means that we can give them out (or at least I can, now), and they can be given out to contest winners. Also keep in mind we added a new feature for all the contests called "Contest Points." Ideally they act like achievement points, and in time we could theoretically feature the top members on the Portal or something.

We decided against minerals showing up under avatars and whatnot because there's no point in showing them off yet with 99% of out members at 0. This can be changed in the future, I assume.

The easiest way to do reviews and such as far as I can tell is to get FRAPS (or something like it) and record gameplay and your voice through it.

Hrrm. Looks nice, I suppose. I'd try and stick the quick search on nav bar after checking resolution, because it looks nicer. Text on the background-images of forums isn't easy to see because the background is too bright. The lack of choices in skins is saddening - I liked Maplantis's color scheme. Yay for mineralz. Good luck with SEN TV. The long black bar that shows on large resolutions in the banner is ugly; any way to grab three different images (with transparency) and set one to left, one to middle and one to right? Maybe detect resolution and remove one if it's too small - it just doesn't look as good as the Maplantis banner did.

I can't switch off both SCI and SCII forums now. Sneaky. :P

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

I'm gonna try to convince Devourer that most members have a wide enough resolution that we can do Quicksearch on the nav bar and/or a "Community" dropdown rather than pairing that with "Site."

We're looking into figuring out how to fix the unreadable forum name/description thing. Why none of us figured that would be problematic when Corbo showed it to us months ago is beyond me. Either way, it will be fixed soon.

Apos, Devourer, and I are all working on different sets of skins for the 5.1 structure. It shouldn't be too long before those are done.

I'm going to try to redo the logo up top entirely. I also suggested something similar basically having it in 3 parts (left, middle, and right). If Devourer can handle that change, I'll get right on it.

As for the SC1 and SC2 thing, I honestly prefer how IP did it with being able to hide or show them both. Devourer coded 5.1 in such a way that this is no longer possible, but I think I've convinced him that most members would prefer it the way it was before and he'll most likely get it done eventually. Otherwise I believe he'll add a third button to display both.

Maybe the background for forums issue has something to do with the text being gray instead of white. Try different colors, something'll work.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

Yeah, I also recommended using white, but I think Devourer said that it stood out too much compared to the name or something. The bigger issue I'm having is finding a color for the title that looks good on both a colored and black & white image. One option we may try is giving those all black drop-shadows. We'll test some changes tomorrow when Devourer is back on.

The quick search is a global search, not a local one. It doesn't search just one forum when you're in that forum.

Baaaaaaaad.

I think the starcraft tab should overlap the starcraft 2 when you're browsing the starcraft forums. Also, the names of the forums should be darker when viewing the forum index. The brightness of the pictures behind the text makes it hard to read.

EDIT: Is there way to keep the "Automatic Refresh" box checked forever? I don't like how it unchecks itself whenever I refresh the page. :hurr:

The header and forum index look pretty nice. TBH everything else leaves a lot to be desired, as others in this topic have stated, but it shouldn't be too hard to improve. Already, I can think of some simple improvements: add more padding to things like headers; lighten backgrounds so that text doesn't contrast too badly; etc.. It's the kind of layout where yeah, it's not perfect, but many of the worst flaws have simple fixes that can be done with little to no HTML modifications.

On a related note, I'll probably end up fading my text manually as a temporary solution. Default text and background hurts my eyes, so much contrast. (That's actually a tricky thing to get right on a dark background. 'S why most of the web uses white as a bgcolor. :P )

Simple(-ish) recommendations and small problems.

A mini-analysis, from a coder nerd's point of view and motivated entirely by boredom.

All that said, however,

Praise.

1024px is still the "standard" resolution for which people should design. Widescreen compatibility is nice, but not at the expense of breaking the layout for 4:3 aspect ratios. If, however, the utility nav (Settings/Messages/Logout) was moved upward, then the green strip beneath it could be thickened, making room for a quick search on 1024px and therefore also on widescreen. Alternatively, the solution in my Recommendations box (float the quicksearch to the right) could be used.

[DavidJCobb is too lazy to find this and quote it. Sorry!]
Quicksearch should always be global unless the user explicitly specifies otherwise. If there was a drop-down, then local search would be fine -- though global should still be the default.

When I posted the above, I was in a friendly, forgiving mood.

I was on the Forum Index and noticed a lot of blank space. I experimented with it in Firebug, seeing what could be done to remove it. I got a much closer look at v5.1's HTML than I had before.

Please excuse me while I bash my head into a wall repeatedly, in an attempt to scrub these horrors from my mind via repeated self-inflicted blunt force trauma to the head.

I like the less use of rectangles and such. Only thing that annoys me is the font size and the font itself. On a lighter note, Gratz. :cool2:

Really like the new skin. Looks all polished and glossy. Only complaint is the over-powering green (in the forum index), puts my eyes into a trance @_@

All the other updates are amazing as well, gj guys :)

The name for the current skin should be called vomit, because that's literally what the theme is. This green is awful looking, and the gray is crap as well. Seriously, get the color scheme right, v4 at least did it the right way with a good green and black.

The two words I would use to describe the current skin are vomit and death, but I guess the latter is the direction SEN is headed towards right? Look at v4 it was nice and vibrant and pleasant to look at just like the community, but I guess the poor quality of this skin is just a reflection of the direction SEN is heading in right?

Why is this shit so dull? Look at how much more amazing it is if the contrast and brightness is increased.

10000x improvement.

That looks a whole lot better. I had trouble reading the forum titles because the background highlight was almost the same color as the text.
