I do not want you to bother IP for that.
Butbut WHYYY it's not like he checks SEN THAT often anyway.
His site, his bills, his rules.
So, if I pay for SEN, I get to be the boss? I would pay monthly if it meant I could have minerals back and force Devourer to fix up the clans section.Being an admin is much more than just paying bills and he won't give you the access anywasys. And now please stop with that.

By "fix up," do you mean remove the 2 clans that don't exist anymore or are there features that need a fixin'?

We could use Karma to let the community decide which post is unworthy to gain minerals. That'll hopefully prevent Moose from having to moderate minerals.
Basically usually every post in StarCraft forums gives minerals, but when the post has a total of 1-2 negative Karma it removes the mineral gain.

Karma is a bad idea for two reasons:
1. Nobody rates posts anyway. Probably one out of 100 posts get rated, if not out of 1000.
2. People rate posts based on whether they like it or not, it often has nothing to do whether it's a quality post.
None.

We cannot avoid having tons of moderation to do, sadly there is no prpelaced php function like "posthasquality($post)" . Lol.
And, honestly, I won't do anything regarding minerals untill IP gives me the permission.
And about clans, give me an entire list of bugs/suggestions and other stuff and I'll see what I can do.

I would use it if that were my tool to fight spam. Hopefully some others too. That's why I would set the negative barrier so low because it would only need a few people for the system to work.
Currently I just don't use it because it has no real function and is anonymous. So if I want someone to know that
I liked what he wrote I have to post.
Well if people would +Karma spam posts then SEN is worse than I thought...
The problem that I see is that you could stalk people you hate and downrate all their posts regardless.
Thus it should log when someone gave (bad) Karma, visible for the poster. When the poster notices abuse he could contact a moderator. Or we could have some kind of report function like for posts.
I could see a group of friends going back to their first hundred (perhaps ignoring the first 50 or so to better escape detection) or so posts and boosting each other's karma.
Or since multi-accounting isn't banned anymore, or so I heard. Just make dozens of accounts and rate your own posts with them. So yea, no karma please.
None.
Isn't banned? We just got rid of at least 3 people with multiple accounts.

That's why I suggested to only count the negative votes when checking the post for being mineral worthy.
I just hope there won't be SEN-Wars or something similar emerging...
If abuse (to harm someone) and their respective reports from the poster are getting out of hand we could restrict the negative karma rule to only regular/veteran rank or higher. Members abusing their karma power (too often) would be demoted.
Or if all else fails only give mods that power. We should have enough active mods in the StarCraft forums for it to work.
Hm. At first this was just an undeveloped idea, but the more I think about it the more I get the feeling this could actually work.

I'm pretty sure it was more about ban evasion.
None.
Anyways, if you are about to not implement it only because people -could- eventually cheat, then consider games like Poker Texas Hold'Em as not existing. Karma system is flawed too and it is active on SEN. Have you seen anyone abusing of it already (even thought we could) ? Answer: No.
None.

I still consider that as "multiple accounts."
I assure you, though, we do keep an eye out for these things in the Staff forum.

That's because no one has had a reason to. Give people incentives and someone will find a way to exploit it. I mean hell, people already found a way to exploit the last mineral system.

Put a max on mins per post, which prevents people from adding lines then editing, if that was the problem before. 20 is a boatload. Use the v4 system, whatever that was.
You're not going to get in trouble for having multiple accounts unless you (ab)use it. If the extra account is discovered, there's a good chance it will be banned, and you will be penalized somehow. If you wouldn't post it under your original alias, you shouldn't be posting it at all.

No. You should get abilities based on your karma.

I thought current karma system was inefficient. Devourer gained a ton from just announcing it.
None.
Stupid karma. We need a real currency like minerals.
None.
How's going the actual discussion of the Staff about this topic, finally ?
None.
Well, nevermind, for now IP doesn't want me to implement them, so well I guess they are lost forever or IP may change his mind. I do not want you to bother IP for that.
... payne payne payne...
should lurk a bit more.
