)) Mercury

A comeback map for me. This is merge of my coolest maps. It has city scape terrain from GTA classic, Zombie systems from BrainBread and Unit groups from my CTF maps. Altogether it happens to be pretty fun map of mine. Now about the map itself. Citizens of space town Mercury have been becoming evil zombies. You as a mercenary decide that this is your lucky day and offer your services to Mercury citizens. Soon you find yourself in a zombie killing rage and you begin to like your newest job.
)) Specifications

)) Players
1-6 players
)) Tileset
Space
)) Map size
128x128 123Kb, so far so good.

)) Features

)) Terrain
Cool space town. Space seems to be better than badlands when it comes to town scape. Not much of an extended terrain, bet pretty good looking anyway.
)) Zombies
As should be, zombies spawn where they need to spawn. Map is divided into several zones with a zombie limit in each. When a zone has less zombies than it's limit, the system shoots zombies there and so on. The zombie limit is based on the player count in game. More players, MOAR zombies! :D
)) Unit groups
As it turns out even more successful, I tend to use unit groups in this map. It's always better to have a crew than running around with just 1 marine. :P
)) Inventory
Everyone's favorite transport inventory/power up system. Hey you can restore health and recall some additional units, cool!
)) Difficulty
Countdown timer runs out, difficulty increases. Faster stronger zombies spawn each round.

)) Screenshots

)) Conclusion

Ideas feedback and testers are always welcome. Yeey!!

Zombies are always good, should be fun. Is it a defence, survival, or RPG?

Red classic.

Gameplay looks like it'll definetly be awesome. Will it have an actual story or just be a fun map?

Let me show you how to hump without making love.

The map looks fun and interesting, a definite public game that could be a smash hit. However, it leaves me wondering:

How well will this work versus people just finding a spot, going inside it and making it so the AI simply cannot reach them? I always found that defeating the whole purpose of fighting zombays, who eat EVERYTHING.

Hard to tell. I'm no expert in genres. You pick your crew, kill lots of zombies. If you die, you can pick again. You mostly kill zombies and do missions. There will be like 20 or more missions, each player can do missions on his own.

More like fun map. Well the story is quite poor and I don't feel like this map needs any.

With increasing difficulty over time it will be quite hard to just camp a spot. You see, you can't survive the late levels without tons of upgrades, but you need minerals to purchase ups. Zombie mineral drop is 1-5 but you earn up to 300 by doing missions, hence you can't afford to camp.

Looks like a really fun map. Will there be any spells that kill lots of zombies with explosions? :P

Just here for the pie

Sounds fun. I liked Brain Bread, but its lack of objective variety and quite frankly just a lack of many objectives gave it little to no replay value. If you're going to have some team-based missions then make sure that everyone gets the reward instead of just the person that completed the objective - Brain Bread did this and it gave some people an unfair advantage.

Jan 26 2010, 8:58 pm Gigins Post #11

Every player can do objectives on his own. Well except a few finishing ones.

You might be able to find testers at op rcdf if you're desperate, just say Jack sent you and it's an awesome zombie map.

I'm a great tester if you still need one. Find me on USEast, most likely in Op SEN :).
