I definately intend to make a Gundam Wing map, though I will probably tinker with the editor for a while before taking on that task.

Just here for the pie

I'll think about it when the time comes.

Blizzard made a Mario Kart type, I've seen some GTA with the camera directly above the head, Pictionary (Though instead of drawing, it's just a text "period"), a first person shooter using Call of Duty 2 skins, and such, all in WarCraft III.

Maybe people could remake Resident Evil 1-3 with the Briefing Lobby Editor (Which was made to develop Jim Raynor interact inside the Hyperion), then opening the inventory, it would use a custom UI with the inventory system on the right and the unit's portrait on the top left. Briefing has better graphics than the actual game. ^^

Is that necroing?

In any case, I might make a big, RPG-type map... Don't know how large a map can get, but hopefully, the game'll be able to run large maps well... (Loading points, perhaps? A grid of them could be used to allow for large, open-ended, explorable environments...) I have some massive ideas...

massive ideas tend to drown fast.

Or people here don't have much innovated ideas, besides of revamped versions of what's already possible in StarCraft I. After ten years, I'm seeing the same maps coming from the same Mapping community...

WarCraft III had a lot of great maps, but they didn't stand a chance against the popularity of DotA. Battle.net 2.0 fixes that by organizing all maps similarly titled fit in one category, therefore I should expect maps that are even 10 billion times better than WarCraft III.

Because, DotA is actually fun. :/
Fun dominates games.

You shouldn't get your hopes up because it categorizes maps. You should get your hopes up because the map editor is 10 billion times more powerful than WC3.

I'm going to restart making my campaign, but this time I can include a truly new custom race.

Not fun when it's overplayed, hosts kicking out new players, everyone being super competitive (All players leave if one player made a mistake) and ruins the purpose of making custom made maps. I should get my hopes up on categorizing maps because it actually gives maps a chance to be popular, and who shouldn't get their hopes up on the map editor?

And that just means it's also addictive.
Theres a server dedicated for the download of the map, so the hosts have every right to kick out downloaders. Otherwise there's no reason to be banned. I think this is exaggerated a bit too much.

Well, maps don't get popular because they're 'categorized'. They actually have to be fun to get popular, even then, there are certain uncertain factors that makes them popular or tumble down the hill. If you didn't know, WC3 isn't just filled with DotA games. There are plenty of other 'popular' maps on WC3, just that only DotA developed into its own 'genre' then just staying as a map.

Just here for the activity... well not really

I'm planning on making a Zerg map where you customize your brood. I've tried this in SCI, the editor isn't strong enough.

No more custom hack prevention though. Either blizzard gets it right or nothing.

But keyboard detection will be a billion times more powerful than it ever was possible on original Starcraft.

Ah, I'm sure someone'll find a way to conditionally crash the game -- and if not, then there's always the option of ending a scenario in defeat for the player.

I hope the editor's easy to use... I'm probably gonna start trying to make a whole overworld right off the bat.

Did Blizzard ever say they were going to include the maps they presented at Blizzcon? I hope they do so I can see how things work in the editor :P As well as playing them of course..
