Any teacher worth the name can and will accept such a conclusion if you give solid textual evidence of your opinion. I wrote an essay that compared Winston Churchill to Satan from Dante's Inferno and my teacher used it as an example in class. I was also the only person in my AP History class that chose to say that the 13 United States were not justified in revolution and got full credit for that as well. It's not about what you say, your opinions are worthless in an essay: it's about how you support it.

I've generally had decent English teachers that don't give retarded amounts of homework. Those that do give pathetic assignments like journals I generally consider to be idiots, and just do the minimum work that I can without losing out on a shiny grade. People are morons. Maybe that sort of teaching is needed to aid the generic American teenager - to me, it's unnecessary (i no how 2 rd kthxbye), and as such I harshly condemn those that teach like that.

As I said, though, I have good English teachers now. Yay for getting into a shiny High School. Half of my English teachers I genuinely liked, and the other half are definitely bearable.

I had slightly worse experience with History teachers (and a nightmarish, 65-grade three-term experience with a french teacher that tore down my average..), but when I wrote an essay slightly excusing Stalin for having much less to work with than say Japan in industrialization, I got the idea that if I said what I know now it would've been worse.

Too few actually are.

And somewhat related: I once created a petition/wrote an essay to have one of my junior high school teachers fired. Shortly after, he had heart problems and had to go to the hospital and take leave from teaching, so I never got to go anywhere with it.

lol its funny though... I have loved my english teachers since 8th grade, like they actually have been my all time favorite teachers lol they were all very hot too.
But my newspaper teacher but he was a dude... But he was cool.
Only thing I didn't like about him was he was a huge democrat like big big... and you couldn't even say stuff like Thats gay, but I was the design editor so I was on his good side so that didnt matter much.

I don't care how much any of you like your teachers. I had a "Religious Perspectives of the Environment" BS humanities class once. Teacher was a nut job who proceeded to blame everything on Christianity. My final paper was about an environmental rights group that was christian based and oriented. I wrote about how ineffective bio terrorism is compared to this specific group, which trained people in why it was necessary to save the environment. And despite his seeming hatred for Christianity, I got an A on the paper.

So can it. There is always a way to diplomatically tell your teacher their wrong

Obviously they didn't learn you good enough. Yes, I am aware of both of the grammatical errors in that sentence.

I have also had an experience with an English teacher... She said "melanin" (skin pigment making people more tan) was the same thing as "metastasis" (when a cancer spreads to other areas) [facepalm].

It's a grammatical error in the title of the thread. There should be no apostrophe, as the teacher doesn't have ownership of "suck".

So today I went down there, ended up arguing with the head of the English department, who clearly did not know enough information to put forward an argument, even though she tried to, and ended up getting cut off by the other teacher as she started getting especially flustered with me It was very funny.

All I gotta say, is that it's okay to have disagreements with teachers, but your little paragraph is going about it the wrong way. I know that us teenagers like to think we're smart, but it's uncalled for to attack a teacher's intelligence, especially when you don't know them. I use to pull that kind of stuff all the time, but the lowered grades from teachers who got mad at me is not worth it now.

Besides, I'm in a program to become a high school teacher myself, so I know that you have to be semi-intelligent to stay in that career =)

Intelligence isn't really of the question here--it's more along the lines of how easily sidetracked you are. If your teacher happened to be like my chemistry teacher, who applied a magnet to his TV in his room, at my class's request, you should've just brought an insect and let it out during your chat. Chances are he/she would have noticed it, and immediately forgotten what she was talking about. The TV he messed up was school property, but it's not significant enough to warrant any trouble (I hope, I love that guy).

tl; dr: sploit the ADD.
