I would use Bengalaas as some kind of tiger or panther...
Maybe a puma would be cool.

As vampire bat, make sure you ally everyone. As I think this is an awesome character, I suggest you make the vampire utterly USELESS during the day outside. I'm a fan of BG2, so you can make a few rules for natural vampire abilities:

When outside during the day, automatically transform into bat, and constantly drain mana. If the bat doesn't reach a cave or indoors by the mana being drained, you die permanently (such is the price of being a vampire).

If the vampire is killed at night, it won't die, but rather turn into a gaseous form, which makes its way back to the coffin, where the vampire has to rest until the next night (or a certain number). To kill the vampire permanently, you have to stake it in the coffin.

Vampires have natural regeneration, so perhaps zealot with mostly shields, or a zergling.

You can't see what scarabs are called in game either, so leave it default.

Wow Rockz, that's BRILLIANT... I never would have thought of that... although giving the vampire flight as a punishment might not work out too well... maybe if he became a land critter instead of his bat form?

Hmm, yeh, vamps have natural regeneration, so that makes sense, although if the hp on my units is anything over like 50, it won't matter all that much... :bleh:

EDIT: Should I bother implementing all of the weird weaknesses that vampires have (ie, they can't enter a building without having been invited in at least once, they can't cross running water, etc), or will most people not care?

yes, but most buildings are public, aren't they? Crossing running water is fine too, you shouldn't have too much of that.

Makes sense enough, I'm pretty sure most b.net people don't know all that stuff about vampires anyways XD. I only researched it because there was this girl I knew who I thought was a vampire (she confessed to being a vampire but I'm pretty sure now that she was lying). It turns out, she's actually something much worse than a vampire. But that's a different story that you probably don't care about =).

So got any input on what unit should be what?

Oh I know!

Use the Valkyrie as a defensive shell!

The Valkyrie looks like a shell, sort of. When a person is using the shell, they are invulnerable, or invincible, or all near enemies are allied, something that prevents people from attacking you. Leave the valkyrie with a certain amount of HP, so other players can destroy your shell before its time actually ends. Not sure which character could use this, but you could use it somewhere :)

What if the user's opponent can't attack air? That'd be sorta unfair to melee heroes D=. I suppose it might work if it was temporary. I still like my "Divine Wind" idea, although I'm not sure where I would put it... it's not impossible to do both, I suppose...

In any case, your ideas are nice and all, but you really got to cut down the heros to a limited amount Perhaps you can simply re-use some characters, but give classes. Kind of like in D&D, where you choose your race, THEN you choose your class. There's no reason you can't be an elf fighting other elves, but you happen to have a buttload more life, and armor, and damage, since you're an archer. Then you can throw vampire into the mix.

..... Gah, I've never even read up much on Japanese history, and even I know this :bleh: . Don't you remember the story when the Chinese (or was it the Mongols... I think the Mongols would have been controlling China at the time) were invading (don't remember quite when it was), and then how a "Divine Wind" (hurricane) suddenly came and swept the invaders away? The Divine Wind unit is based on that, it randomly spawns in waters to kill off ships =).

She had pills that she took to protect her from sunlight. And besides, Dracula was able to stand in the sun relatively normally, he just wasn't as powerful... vampires didn't actually die due to sunlight until Nosferatu came along in... I think it was 1901.

Nonono, that's what upgrades are for and CUWP are for. Spawn the regular elves with 1% life or something. Your hero will have 3% life at start, and will get more as it levels up/upgrades.

What about when the hero started buying mercenaries or created a kingdom that just happened to have that same unit involved? How would the game (or the player) tell which one was your hero?

Yeh, that's what I'm worried about... and I wouldn't want to have to prevent the player from buying certain units... I'll probably be fine if I just scrap a few of my hero ideas...

So most of you agree that the Spy should go? Let's try and find 5 others that we can get rid of...

Yeah, since the valkyrie death sounds like wind, it would be better to use it for what you had planned, instead of a shell.

As for a couple units to get rid of, I really don't like the idea of the Psychic Warlord, or the Pantokrator Egg Layer. I think both of those should go..

Also, I don't like the Monkey King's theme.. If I were you I would definitely change it to something more serious. You could have the monkey king be something like, a race of humans tainted with dark magic. These race of tainted humans aren't either good or bad, but simply have control over magic pertaining to darkness and fire. You can start out in the cage, just like if you were a monkey king, but you are imprisoned because most other races, including the king and his nobles, are pretty much racist against this race of people tainted with dark magic. You escape the cell, and become a leader of this race, and expand your empire.

I think it would be fun to play on the whole evolutionary hierarchy mode of thinking "My race is superior to yours", and your goal in leading these people would be to prove that you are a formidable and competent group of beings -Your goal could also be to rule the world (or map).

I think you should change everything from monkeys to something more serious, and more fun. I just don't like the idea of monkeys, and I never liked the movie Planet of the Apes..

Hmm, the Void Mage is a more important (and popular XD) character than the wizard XD.
Hmm, carrion worm doesn't seem too popular. Pity, I liked it D=.

Ok, so far we've voted out the Spy, the Wizard, Psycic Warlord, and the carrion worm...

EDIT: Oh, didn't see third page. Er, the valkyrie actually doesn't die as part of it's attack, it appears, fires a couple shots, and then disappears (or blows up, whichever people like better).
Hmm, monkey king thing makes sense, but I wanted to put monkeys in somewhere. Can't really think of anything else that represents the forest well.

I could tell you liked the idea of monkeys lol. But I don't :C

Instead of tainted with dark/fire magic, you could have them sort of like LotR Treants, except more like a Dryad. That's if you wanted them to be forest based..

I still like my idea in the above post a lot :)
