I've done jack shit towards my map, as my participation in SC/the related community lately has been... lacking (also, i'm incredibly fucking lazy). I won't say to take me off the participatory list (still got a half a year to do something), but don't count on me actually making anything (yay dwarf fortress).
Laziness is no excuse for failing to provide a map for this contest. The only valid excuses are as follows (and nevermind that this is Kaias's and Lethal's contest, I'm making the rules here now):
1). it's just a huge ass map
2). insane amount of triggers (like ahli's 40,000+ stuff)
3). SC is an old game and isn't capable of playing what you had planned without lag/exploding
4). alien invasion/parents destroying your computer
5). map bugs up so damn much that you can't fix it without basically rewriting the whole game
6). you're a perfectionist and could not finish because everything wasn't precisely perfect to being the ultimate rpg you can create
7). the internet blows up
8). chuck norris told you not to under penalty of death
9). you're using copyrighted material in your map which may induce criminal penalties and do not wished to be linked through your SEN account to the map
10). you discover the equation to unite gravity and quantum field theory and need to devote your time to that (or a similar breakthrough, ex. cure for cancer)
Let it be known that viruses destroying your computer is not a valid reason, because YOU SHOULD MAKE BACKUPS!
Nah but seriously, I've noticed a lot of mappers pull out the "I'm too lazy" nonsense, for some odd reason, trying to pass off laziness as something worthy and noble, like it's cool, or suave or something, desirable in some way. Take for example, your post. Not only did you inform us that you're lazy, but you
emphasized it with "incredibly," as if you believe laziness is a desirable trait, worthy of having its magnitude expressed by a word like "incredibly". If you're too lazy to make your map, just say so and move on with things. If you're not going to complete your map and you know it, have them take you off the list, or change your stance to "I'm going to try and get this done, even if I fail in the end" instead of "keep me on even though I'm not going to actually make anything." I hope you see my point.
None.
