So far i'm working on my mod and i need a unit that can replace the Terran marine.
If someone can make one for me, i'll give full credit
.
what i kinda want:
- not an animal, human type\or robotic
- 2D is ok
- 2D is ok
- 4D is not

I just need the GRP file, but is needed the lo. file too

Remember: I'm just asking for help! So no stupid reply saying: "I'm not gonna help" because I don't care if you do or don't!

I would also wouldn't want another design from another mod

Thank you

You kindness is appreciated

is doesn't matter to me
if it needs a kinda of bullet, you can also add the bullet file to it (unit\bullet\tspark.grp in stardat)

I fail at grp editing, but you can look through these.

Dude, whats wrong with using GRPs already posted online? Its not like you can go and say "I need a GRP made for me!" and expect someone to spend their time making a graphic specifically for you. You need a good reason for someone to do this. Believe me, Ive tried before on my old mod. I ended up with like one (a mech turret). The rest I got from online. The Maplantis database has a pretty good selection of nice GRPs you can use in your mod. I suggest taking a look there.

When you look at the graphics in the database, you dont actually need one replacing the marine's exact frame count, so don't limit yourself as far as which graphics you will use in your mod. Some of the graphics require custom iscripting though, so make sure that your iscript matches the grp's frame count. I think PyICE is a good iscript editor to use (IceCC is rather old).

Btw, nice oil drilling center. It looks cool :).

so do i have to replace the 229 images with my custom one?
or is there some way to shorten it?

A downloaded graphic or one youre making?

For downloaded graphic: Should already be packed. Check frame count and make sure its compatible with your iscript

For your own custom graphic: Dont replace marine frames, just compile all of your images into a GRP together (make sure theyre in order). Programs like SFGrpConv, GRPEdit, and PyGRP can do this (as opposed to the outdated RetroGRP).

i always use SFGrpConv
but do i have to make 229 custom images like the marines?
like the first one is facing north, and the next one turns a bit east, etc.

Yes you need to make 229 custom images, and I believe there is a specific angle between frames and a certain angle looking down on the unit. Its always looked really tedious to me, so Ive never really made SC unit graphics. For recoloring, I guess you could make a script for batch editing the file (applying same change to each frame). Or, another method is making a 3d model of the unit and rendering it in all of those directions.

EDIT: 229 for marine, but like A_of-S-T said, it can be any multiple of 17. They range from facing north to facing right, then facing south. The right side ones are mirrored to the left in-game. If you dont use 229 frames (with the same exact frames used for attack and move and such), the marine's iscript wont work and you will have to come up with your own.

Don't use anim8or for this -- it cannot render the frames properly for ingame use (it always has a hint of orthogonal view). I suggest getting 3ds max or gmax + render plugin.
