I'm toying with the idea that we could have a lead editor for each category. If you are a very enthusiastic modder, and would like to steer which direction that part of the zine takes, speak up. You wouldn't necessarily be doing the article every week, but you would make it known what you needed people to contribute towards for the said week, and then take what they gave you and make it better.

I'll take the modding section if no one else is interested.

I can't find the categories for my life. Because of that, I feel okay throwing out another category. =p

I would be willing to write (or if need be, Lead Edit) a "Classics" piece. Whereas map of the week would focus on new maps, this section would be more about maps that used to be or have remained incredibly popular throughout the history of the game. Evolves, PtQ, Snipers, SCV Football, come to mind immediately. I'm sure going through my maps folder I could find dozens of others.

I've been around on Battle.net for a long time. I could definately pump you with some ideas for the articles, FaZ-.

Some ideas that come immediately are:
-Defenses (Namely, Sunken D)
-Hero Arena
-Dodge games
-Golems
-Lotrish

That's a good column idea. In addition to columnists, we will need news in every issue - Starcraft 2 rumors or whatever.

Some sample ones from the original 'idea' topic.
Quote
Explanation of categories:
Maps of the Week - Basically what people like Drant and UnholyUrine have already been doing, except it's 3 maps at once - 1 Gem, 1 Classic, 1 Map of the Week. This part would really be the meat and potatoes of the zine. The Gem is an original map that is relatively new, but under the radar deserving more attention. Examples would be Tetris, The Antz. The Classic is self explanatory. A map that you need to play before you die, or have had to had played if you want to call yourself a die-hard UMS player. Examples would be Rush, Lazer Tag, Golems, etc. The Map of the Week really is just whatever seems to be 'hot' hosted the most recently. Example would be Desert Strike and Temple Siege. The difference would be that since they are already known, the writing would be concerned with strategies.
Another possible sub section could be Up and Coming, where a mapper who has been seriously working on a map and showing progress gets a mini-interview and spotlight.

Tips & Tricks - Useful tips and tricks on map making from things as abstract as rock-paper-scissors balance mechanics, to things as specific as how to use EUDs. There is no denying that there won't be anything in the latter that couldn't be found in the wiki, but publishing through a different medium could be insightful for curious non-mappers.

StarCraft 2 - Not our specialty, but even just a re-hashing or fresh interpretation of old news would be an honest start.

History - A history lesson of a major milestone in SC development like the patching of EUD actions, or the documentation of something minor that snowballed into something major, like how DW3 for ps2 which inspired for AoS, which inspired DOTA for WC3, which actually traveled back to SC in various other interpretations. I think this category would be the most fun for the veterans.

Humor - Self explanatory. Could be something previously made that we source like a web comic, or actual Original Content.

Modding - Completely self explanatory.

Site Announcements - Basic updates on what IP may have coded, change in rules, contest updates/reminders. Even small things like who recently won mafia.

Trends/Rumor Mill - For the really die-hard StarCraft players who like to be in the know. Like an uptick in certain maps, who has beef with who, blah blah blah. Enquirer stuff, stuff that no one should care about, but lulzy to write and pay attention to.

Other - Anything like this http://www.wegame.com/watch/Starcraft_7_years_in_7_minutes_a_history_of_patches/ . Really, if anyone can create some OC or quip something witty, it will have a place.

Your article would fit under MOTW's 'classic' subsection.

Map o' da Week

Also I'd like to see my talent used in a mapping area, possibly the "Zombie" editor of the zine. With an extremely large database of zombie themed maps, plus attempting to make some of my own, I do belive I fit the job, since we dont exactly have our legendary mappers anymore.

After me and Ex finish conquest I've decided its high time I actually finish one of my zombie themed maps too.

There will not be lead editors for specific map types, only a lead editor (or a couple co-editors) of the MOTW section. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians.

I like the distinctions you made there, I just couldn't find the post you just quoted after 15 minutes or so.

I was very skeptical about this whole idea in the beginning because I felt that there're a lot of thing that should be organized on SEN but aren't (DLDB being the prime example... Map reviews... the minerals... to state others).

But now you actually have a Sen Zine section... and have all of these stuff out here... I'd love to contribute... :D
I'm also happy that you took my suggestion to have an editor for each category (lead editors)

As I've said before.. I'll be happy to do the editing/writing for the Map Projects category (may need to be different from the actual MAPPING category)... Whether it's New... Old.. or CRAP maps.. I'll do it.. (With my Current style I may be better on reviewing Old/Crap maps :P ) But as an editor, I will read through any map orientated articles and see which ones are best and edit for the grammar and relevance.
Again, as I've said before, an editor should not edit a person's style, and I definately won't do that... I will however, see if it is appropriate or not.

How about a ''Other games'' section, where someone can write about upcoming or released games - short and 1 game per edition?

If you need someone in charge of drama/rumor mill/history of map makers, bnet, ect. I could probably do it. I'm familiar with a lot of the classic maps, their makers, and their relationships with the other map makers such as who stole who's trigger console, ect.

This. so it attracts more then just starcraft gamers. And will encourage more people to try starcraft.

I'd much rather this be solely SC/SC2 focused. MAYBE other Blizzard games but that's as far as it should go.

Going beyond Starcraft is overreaching; we don't even have a magazine yet. I would be happy if we can occasionally stray outside of mapping/modding to other Starcraft subjects.

I concur. This is supposed to be a StarCraft fan-zine. When D3 and any WoW updates come out, perhaps then that'll be more appropriate to include a snippet. But it should really be about this game and eventually SC2.

CURRENTLY WORKING ON:
Shadowlands | Demonic: Urban Apocalypse
TERRAN 2259 | Unnamed Fight Map | Recon

CecilSunkure -- Yeah, that's why it's being nerfed.
[09:58 pm]
Taylor Swift -- even if you don't, you don't deny how effective the build is against zerg?
[09:56 pm]
Taylor Swift -- terran almost always opens with 5 rax reaper, and the zerg can barely ever do anything about it in TvZ.
[09:56 pm]
CecilSunkure -- I honestly don't trust your credentials on the topic.
[09:56 pm]
Taylor Swift -- tell me a better cheese strat that is constantly used by high level players?
[09:54 pm]
Taylor Swift -- yeah, but nothing is as effective as 5 rax reaper as a cheese strat, and this build has the easiest time transitioning into a solid mid-game.

Raccoon -- I wanna play sum SC2
