Hey guys.. Is there any way to, instead of inserting the BroodWar Disc to play BroodWar, can you just plug in a Flash Drive and play it from that, without the disc? If there is, can you guys tell me how? Thanks!

Or any other way to run Sc without a disc.. I have a cd key..

Yes, copy the SC directory to the flash drive, and launch it using this.

Did you know I love you :O

Wait the Starcraft directory is that whole folder in Program Files, right? Copy that into the flashdrive then double-click the loader?

Yeah, and copy that loader into the SC folder. Note that the campaign will not work, but you can do multiplayer and battle.net and play maps in single player.

If you aren't playing mods for older versions, you can also just update SC/BW and copy install.exe from your Brood War CD into your Starcraft folder and rename it to BroodWar.mpq

If you want, you could open it up in WinMPQ or any other mpq program and delete some of the larger files if there are ones you don't want to include (say, if you don't want the music or if you don't want the campaigns) and then compact the archive.

If you do want everything, then just leave the file intact. You could also copy the one from the Starcraft CD if you want the Starcraft campaign, and rename it to StarCraft.mpq

SDE, BWAPI owner, hacker.

I think it would be better to create a new MPQ archive to rid it of the EXE data and decrease number of max files, and remove the installation data from the mpq.

Just here for the pie

If you don't want to be so technical you can download the Starcraft Anthology from the blizzard website. You need to turn in your CD key for a "digital" CD key which is 26 characters long, and then download the Anthology and input the CD key when the time comes.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

I can't get the loader to work for multiplayer. I have it on my mp3 player, and it starts up SC ok, but when I try to connect to Bnet it says that it can't connect ot the internet.

i just did 2 images from the original discs. You can do that with nearly every Freeware that does Images. Just google for it. Once you have them you can launch them with Daemon Tools, which is Freeware too. There are other Programs than Daemon Tools, but i use this. This Way you can install, uninstall and play Campaigns , Multiplayer and Battlenet. Filesize is of course pretty big, like the original Discs (2 * 700mb), but who cares about space these days ?

No-CD loaders for Starcraft/Brood War are basically obsolete, since you don't need them on newer versions, and running older versions is only really for mods, which are incompatible with the loaders anyway.
