I dont know if this was already figured out, but i figured this out my self. You can also hold the keyboard like a guitar!

To make a guitar hero map:
Put 5 Nexus for 1 player.
Tell him to hotkey each one (First one = 1 Second one = 2 etc.)
Now, turn keyboard Upsidedown (Numbers facing down)
Scince the hotkey to make a probe is P, we use that to strum.
Use 1-5 as frets, and P to strum!
Now all you have to do is add music, triggers, and your done!

Its awesome, i just figured it out last night.

What sucks about it though, is that you cant do chords. D:

Um... if you're going to do that why wouldn't you make it more guitar-like actually?
say... 6 frets like areal guitar?
Also, you could probably use the UEDs vision move detection to use arrow keys to do this...

Not really a bad idea... but making the triggers work right in sync with the music won't be the funnest thing in the world... And them remember... things will change if someone plays only online and then someone else plays it only on single player. There will be a big difference for those 2 game modes..

:/.. maybe i could make a un-allow single player? Or i could add a bassist too.. that would be cool.

I was thinking of an EUD DDR with arrow keys, you could also use EUDs and p for pluck on guitar hero, for example in hammerons you could press P on 1, then hold down 2 and use an EUD to detect that. Trigs are simple.
If your looking at 1,2,3,4, or 5 then set a death counter to 1, If you bring a probe to 1,2,3,4,5 then kill it and set that death counter to 2,

A note is a series of scouts moving down the map in a lane, colour coded of course. if there is a scout in the note area when you strup then it kills all the scouts for that bottom area in say a 2/12 box, leaving a 2/6 space between notes that are 2/6 long. A held note could be mojo scouts, that get killed as long as your screen is over the right note. If you look away then all the mojoscouts in the note get given to player X and get grayed out like when you unhold a key during a long note. The same thing would go for hammer ons, but with another unit, perhaps we could use all 3 types of scouts upgraded so they'd go the same speed.

I demand that all 10 number keys be used and the ability to use Star Power by using another buildings that will have hot keys close to each other (preferably ones in the 'p' and 'o'). This would actually make me play an unmodded version of SC.
In order to preserve the state of modding, I have forced myself to finish... to finish the craziest modification, the world of SEN has ever seen... It will happen, in the Habitat.

Scouts win cause there's three of them with the same speed.

EUDs are extended unit deaths, using conditions to check certain values in starcraft's memory usage.

Translated, one thing EUDs can accomplish is they can figure out if a unit is selected, which I am sure is what they are talking about. Look for the test map in the DLDB, I think Kenoli made it.

You don't even explain what type of map to look for... To make things easier for you, this can't be done without having to put up with tons of editing and what not. Have fun opening and closing StarCraft to make something like this perfect... sorry

I thought of this idea too, but I didn't want to make it because... how many people on b-net would actually play this game when they could actually play Guitar Hero or Rock Band?

That is another good point. What if they can't even pull their keyboard out? you could play it with the keyboard down, but it would be too easy.

Lining the notes up with the music will NOT be fun. You would have a ridiculous amount of triggering to do.

Not just that, but 3 meg maps seem like they download really slow on B.Net, even when you have high speed. It's possible... but I don't see a lot of replayability. Unless you're currently amazing with hyper triggers, I would NOT want to make this map. A 3 minute song, that's about 720 spots on a death counter. One note a second? I'd say give them a two death counter leeway, with one being "Perfect."

You could probably time the notes to the music outside the game, but it's going to be a pita. If you do do it, though, cool cool.

I thought of this long ago on Maplantis, too bad the topic was deleted when the server crashed.

The point is not to make the world's most popular map, but to actually MAKE a Starcraft version of guitar hero. Push the limits. See what you can do.

You can minimize starcraft.. >.<. Also, if you ever played an RGB map, they synced thier explotions with their 4 min songs.
