PROJECT: HYDRA
Re-experience the classic story.

Overview:

Project: Hydra is a large-scope redesign of the original 6 campaigns of SCBW. In addition to making the gameplay more
challenging, complex, and engaging, it supports 2-player co-op and was built for the remastered patch (1.21 and up). The
scope of the project involves large improvements to the map files and significant changes to the AI scripts, and these
artistic liberties will result in an experience meaningfully removed from playing the maps that shipped 20 years ago.

Key Concepts
Features:

* SC:R compatible
* Redesigned maps & AI
* Modified techtrees & heroes
* New main and side objectives
* Comprehensive tutorial
Campaigns:

Rebel Yell
7 of 10 maps available.

Future campaigns will enter development after Rebel Yell is completed.

Very impressive. I'll definitely have to give this a try. I definitely like the idea of revamped heroes - too often they just ended up being "some random unit except better stats", with certain obvious exceptions like infested Kerrigan. Tip of the fedora to you, sir.

On a side note, I like the executable icon.

The sword and the faith

Finally, a Pr0n project worthy of taking your time away from Omega. :P

Some of the changes in the screen shots and descriptions are not necessarily directions I would have gone in myself. However, everything seems well thought out and calculated. Just from the shaping and detailing of the maps you can tell there's a certain standard in this project which I think separates it from previous attempts with simpler ambitions to just 'make SC harder' or 'make SC co-op'. On Mission 3 for example, it would have been much simpler to add some width to the map and make the vanilla base larger to accommodate a second player. Instead, the scenario was re-imagined from a perspective that seems to value the narrative of why the mission is taking place. For SC purists, this is surely the campaign remastering we've needed, even if we didn't quite know it.

I'm interested to play these but I may hold off until the complete collection is done so I can enjoy it as a package. Still, well done so far and I am at your service for any needs of this project I may be able to assist with.

Also: Clean up your goddamn mineral lines. A mineral line can be both aesthetically pleasing and mining efficient. It isn't that hard. :P

Started up the first map, and there's an immediate problem: If you try to play it solo, not only do you not get control over your ally's structures, but his SCVs actually ATTACK your command center. You can build a couple more SCVs and kill them, of course, but it puts you back far enough that you'll probably lose due to attrition and the lack of extra resources. Basically, it's less of "compatible with" co-op and more of "requires" co-op.

I'll be shipping SP in later patches. It requires scripting AI allies and a few updates to the engine which haven't yet been completed, and I'd rather make the maps available for co-op play earlier rather than sitting on them.

And I don't want the resource areas to be optimized, it's a deliberate design decision to make them inefficient.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

Who wants to play this with me? I'll drunk-stream it.

You have to be good and able to beat this single handedly since I suck. Then again, two people sucking might be good to monetize AF tho. :lol:

fuck you all

ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

I can do it late tonight. Like maybe 11 pm EST.

Memes gather, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the memer on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of memes. I pledge my life and honor to the Meme's Watch, for this meme and all the memes to come.

Updated the mod and maps 5 and 6 with some buffs for heroes and a fix for map 6's victory condition.

My housing situation has recently gone belly-up and I am now facing homelessness. This means I will be suspending all work on my SC1 projects and working on pursuing any and all opportunities I still have to collect money before I am evicted. Not sure when I'll be able to return to these projects or if I'll be able to at all. I'll keep posting updates here when I know more information.

Appreciate it, I'm sure it'll work out in the end.

edit: some quality of life fixes to hero weapon upgrade values and map descriptions have shipped.

Also new in t05:
-one less comsat to promote wraith play
-cloaking field researched by default to promote wraith play
-lockdown energy cost reduced to 75 to promote Kerrigan-out-of-bunker play

Probably my final touches to the map.

It requires some additional plugin work which has not yet been completed. Maybe after April.
