Why are threads like this allowed?
http://www.staredit.net/?topic=1685Why are people allowed to go around and spam? There is such an influx of thoughtless posts, I'm sort of disappointed. Infact, I think I could probably go around the forums yelling random obscenities at people, and still not get punished for it.
What happened, SEN? Where are all the rules..? Where are the punishments? Where is the moderation?
None.
Are you still mad because of what happened in the iPhone thread? Also it isnt spam as it's
they don't break the rules, they don't fit anywhere else, and people in general will care about them.
In this case yes,yes and yes is correct. Also if you don't like the website then get out of here.
BTW this is
spam.

JordanN, a piece of advice. You may want to read the
terms of service you agreed to when you signed up before you go ahead doing what you're doing. I'm with deathawk, this kind of thing shouldn't be allowed.

And what right gives you that? There's moderation at SEN it's just that its a bit slower then usual but that doesn't say justice won't be delivered.
None.
I am not bad because of what you think happened in the iPhone thread. Nothing really happened though, besides people missing my point.
However, there is no doubt that a thread like the Curse Word one should definitely not be allowed, and I shouldn't have to explain that any more thoroughly.
Something needs to be done with the whole atmosphere this site has at the moment. I strongly feel too many people think they can do whatever they want and get away with it. Bring back some discipline, or something. I don't think people even considered making some of the threads like the ones that are made now..
And who said I didn't like this site? I've been here for like, 3 years, obviously I've enjoyed spending my time here, or else I wouldn't have spent it here for so long.
None.

Once again there is discipline/moderation. It just goes by very slowly. If that wasn't true then Kellimus would of posted 10 topics today.

Kellimus was banned for a whole different reason. It's because he got into a confrontation with Moose.
Regardless of whether you think there is moderation/discipline or not, the fact is, things need to be done, stuff needs to change. The posts are still here, the threads are still being made, and the people causing the problems continue to cause problems.

And that doesn't count as moderation?!?!
None.
I now noticed the curse thread. We can't be here 24/7, Deathawk.
But yeah, that thread is unnecessary, Jordan. Taken care of.
None.
Well, it's really not particularly that thread, I just figured that would be a prime example of what wouldn't happen back then, perhaps around the time of having warn levels, and an actual risk of getting banned, losing posts, etc.
Which makes me believe something like a warn system or some type of structured punishment system should be put in place. I still believe that the general feeling among most people here is that you can do what you want, and for the most part (save... post and or thread deleition) you won't get severely punished. Obviously, in the case of Kellimus, or somebody who does something like post porn or some sort of virus, they will be dealt with, but otherwise, I don't know.
Also, as far as Maplantis goes, this has nothing to do with Maplantis being down. I hardly visit Maplantis at all. I visit here a lot more, however now I have turned into a forum lurker, perhaps besides the technology forum and some other threads I find appealing.

Actually, NerdyTerdy, JordanN isn't gonna disappear with Maplantis.
I fought for a re-done warn sysetem and IP doesn't want one. He figures "normal moderation with superfluous logs until they're bad enough to get banned" is the way to go.
I'm not "supposed to" appoint any moderators. Merrell got the spot after SteamBoy struck and I had to leave for a day or two and I haven't removed him. Aside from a few forum-specific moderators, that's all we have for now.

I'd be more impressed by your caring if it wasn't going to disappear the moment Maplantis comes back up.
Why would it? I don't see a profound amount of Maplanteans here. I'm not posting my maplantetory quota, and the real spammers just stay here anyways because they've already been banned from Maplantis.

modmaster, FlyingHat, Corbo, you, Falkoner, poiuy or whatever.. that's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure I've seen more of you.
Edit: Also, Deathawk, sorry about my mistake, I just assumed you were one of them since you started posting more around the time they showed up.
Edit#2: Moose tells me Falk isn't much of a maplantian. I was/am pretty sure he is.I'm posting just as much as I do when Maplantis is up... And we're just modders, you know, the people who know things about SC and actually work on stuff. Falkoner isn't. We make fun of him there for spamming his shitty website.

The old system was made on the basis that minerals/post counts were things people cared about. And back then, this was held true. I remember being warned, and it crushed me to lose a few of my valuable posts or minerals. Nowadays, post count and mineral count are far less important, and thusly the old system wouldn't work. But some sort of warn log system would be nice, if only to keep track of infringements.

IP again.. sigh.. What is the status with him, as of now, at least? You're able to communicate with him, right?
I see. Well, I'm glad you at least see the need or benefits at least of introducing a warn system. Is this what we would call normal moderation now?
As far as moderators go.. who are the moderators? I've got you, IP, and Merrell.. who else..?
And I think Killer_Kow makes a good point, I was figuring I was the only one who didn't care about posts, and stuff, but apparently not. And yes, even to keep list of infridgements, a log system would be nice. Are number of characters and forum posted in still taken into consideration for post count?
None.

Haven't heard from him since New Year's Day.

The moderation we have now isn't what IP wanted it to be. There's a lot of things that he has to add and fix, which is why I'm not supposed to add moderators.

Yenku on the two melee forums. I thought I had someone on Modding, but I was mistaken. There are no reports waiting to be dealt with, so in my mind everything is running smoothly.

Maybe we can make a giant poll and then I'll code it under his nose and go "everyone wanted it!"
There are logs... they just aren't displayed anywhere. Nor do I know if IP intended them for any sort of public or private viewing.
Are number of characters and forum posted in still taken into consideration for post count?
Nope. For minerals, yes, but not for post count. There are also no real benefits to having a higher post count. (ie. Regular, Elite)
