SEN Week-Long Mapping Contest #5

Welcome to the fifth installment of SEN's (two) week-long mapping contests! This time around, contestants will be allotted two weeks before a map must be submitted. The theme all submitted maps must adhere to is EMPIRES. Your map could be anything loosely related to the theme. For example, a gladiator battle map would qualify; as would a map about war. These are just two examples, but the possibilities are numerous. All submissions are due before July 30th, 2010, 11:59:59 EST. There will be mineral rewards for first, second, and third place. These rewards are 40, 20, and 10, respectively. It is expected of everyone submitting a map to have read the rules and fully understand and adhere to the theme. There will be no leniency when judging maps when it comes to broken rules.

Good luck, have fun, and start mapping! Remember to at least get something in, because as we saw from last week's contest, you could have won twenty minerals for submitting a rick roll. Also, if anyone wishes to donate something to the contest as a giveaway prize, it would be greatly appreciated! Please contact one of the judges via PM to set up the donation.

I didn't mean to sound condescending. The last contest had that same claim and ETEFT never asked beforehand. Considering no minerals have been awarded for any of these contests yet, I figured I'd ask.

I've not a clue how to use the sc2 editor :-(

I can't even do terrain right (apparently, part of the borders of the map are cut off, but it doesn't show the real borders in the editor.)

If anyone can mentor me,I'd appreciate it

Lucky, my computer can't even run the editor. It gets all sorts of error messages and it lags horribly.

So... empires for the theme, age of empires anyone?

Kimaru, check for map borders under 'view' or something along those lines.

Pressing "o" will hide or show the borders, blue (the outer) is for units, the dotted yellow one is for camera border.

I have accidentally deleted the e-mails IP and Corbo were sending to me about the mineral sponsorship. (too much god damn mafia pm's) They did clearly say that they will sponsor it, exactly 40, 20, and 10.. + 10 for each judge every week.. before, with 3 judges (cecil, me, and loveless), this totals to 100 minerals.

EDIT: I'd like to know what happened to this too. Devlin, would you be so kind to ask IP about this?

What happens is that we finally have no excuse to carry on with SC1 stuffs

Meh, this doesn't seem like my kind of contest, and that's besides the fact that I don't feel like making a SC map atm.

I'll wait for something else, hehe.

So... Azrael's probably not in and Gidoza is definitely not. Who does that leave? What does it take to motivate you? Has everyone lost interest in sc1 mapmaking?

I'll try to make something for this one since I have a bit more time on hands. I want some competition!
