You heard right folks, we're holding a Beta Key Mapping Contest, which means the winner of this contest will recieve a SCII Beta Key.


All submissions are due March 22nd, 2010, by 11:59:59PM GMT.
GMT = Greenwich Mean Time. If you live on the East Coast of the U.S., take your current time and add 5 hours to get GMT.

The theme for this contest is: Fire
(3:19:44 AM) shocko: 'Fire'
(3:20:19 AM) shocko: Could be a short story rpg about how man made fire
(3:20:26 AM) shocko: could be just walking around with flame throwers burning shit
(3:20:36 AM) shocko: could be like my ocean of fire
(3:20:39 AM) shocko: where you put fire out
(3:20:51 AM) shocko: could even be the olympics

Each map submission will be judged according to the following criteria:

Gameplay: 10 points
-Is it fun?
-Do I just have to do the same thing over and over and over and over and over, or is there any skill involved?
-Would I play it if I wasn't a judge and didn't have to?
Originality: 10 points
-Did you copy someone elses idea?
-What new ideas are you bringing to the table?
-You won't lose points for making something that already exists, but if you make a defense you'd better not just change the names, if you make an rpg, you'd better have a good story and stuff, ect.
Professionalism: 10 points
-How is your grammar, and are there millions of typos?
-Are your colors consistent, and used purposefully?
-Is your map full of huge blocks of ugly square terrain?
Theme: 5 points
-Is there fire besides the flare at the end of the marine's machine gun in your map?
-Does your map have anything to do with fire?
-Do you use the word fire, fiery, burn, burning, burnt, moose, blaze, cremate, sear, incinerate, scorch, or char?
Completion: 5 points
-Are there major bugs?
-Is the map finished?
-When I play it do I get halfway then run into a large patch of empty dirt terrain with nothing in it?

Shocko will be taking care of the judging, and appointing other judges. Also, when the beta period is over, Shocko would like his battle.net account given back to him.

I'd like to thank Shocko for offering this beta key to his fellow SENners, and wish all the contestants luck.

I'm a beta key holder as well but I'll participate I guess, therefore if I win I want the second place to be handed out the key.

Hopefully this will give some SEN members some incentive to actually complete a map. Obvious rules apply, no maps started before this post will be accepted, obviously no way of truly judging that, unless of course you make a 256 x 256 super RPG

No, it means he's giving his beta key to the winner. Considering the beta is only gonna be around for another 2 months, I suppose it makes sense.

I may try to make something, and like Devo I'll give up the key since I already have one. Or I can help judge, if need be.

The less judges the better. Only Shocko and Vreal should be judges.

To be fair, even if you stole my account, I'd just be able to make a new account with my desired name anyways. All I'd have to do is make a new msn account which is quite bothersome, but hey. I'd much appreciate you didn't

mind finishing up last stand rpg first

Anyway I probably won't participate in this one cause I have another map that I'm doing that has nothing to do with fire xD
