File Description
This is my first Rpg.
I finished it at the end of 2008, but there have still been some Bugs so i didnt want to upload it here.
I was inspired by Spellsword which i played in June 2008 and started with not much knowledge about mapmaking.
Thats why somethings went really chaotic and i wanna thank a lot of people from Sen and not from Sen for helping me finishing this.
The map was destroyed one time completly and i had to copy out everything i could save and rearrange.
This thing gave me a really hard time was fun sometimes to make and sometimes not.
Some things like the Armor you can make for yourself are unique in the way i did them and if someone can find out how to do it, with less locations, cause it eats nearly half of them, than i can only give the tip to use it in another map cause people love it from what i can see... (Sen Rpg Contest ;-))
After all i think it is a good map for a Mapmaking Noob like i was when i started and i got only good comments on it from people who played it, which always makes me happy.

1. bullshit, you get the pylons when its time for you to upgrade, its an awesome glitchy but working upgrade system.
2. that can happen. Anyway after the first upgrade you can beat thousands of lings without any problems
3. it has, yes there is random lag.
4. possible, go gamble, get money, buy lifes.
5. to ways to go, one is right and one is wrong.

Overall i think you played the map for at most 30 minutes, which i wonder makes you fell you must comment it. Most of the things you mentioned will relativate during game.
Anyway, i doubt i ever touch this map again, and i say it again, it has bugs, yes, but you can play it from the beginning to the end...
and... it is a 4 Player map and, i guess it is impossible to beat alone.

to payne:
sorry will never happen, but dont forget its open source, and if i remember correctly, most of the triggers have comments. <:-)

PLEASE PM me when a fixed version will be out.
Please read what Sykres said :D

Sykres wrote on Jun 27 2009, 2:37 pm:
Some problems that make this map unplayable:
1. Can't upgrade - NO PYLONS?!
2. Enemy spawns stack up, meaning sets of zerglings will spawn indefinitely, before you even kill the first set.
3. I'm guessing this map has no Hyper Triggers, because every stash function has random lag.
4. Using revive, even while in one player, will sometimes take your revival item and NOT revive you.
5. The beginning of the game is very unclear as to where you should be going. There are paths that are blocked by invisible units, making escaping those 50 zerglings nearly impossible.

I really want to enjoy this map. It looked so promising.

Too many bugs now. CAN NOT GET OFF FERRY!

Meatwad1355 wrote on Apr 26 2009, 8:47 pm:
REALLY AWSOME RPG<<><><><><>> Thanks for creating a second Spellsword it is alot different from the orignal, great map, and ITS HUGE!!! I played this 5 times with different people 1-3hrs each game never was bored, balancing is amazingly perfect, however there are some glitches but that is ok, Main glitches every1 should watch out for, "Defender Tanks at base = Kill teammates when sieged" " ONE PERSON should get all the SCV's cause it wont work if diff players have the SCV's" Also theres no real reason for the southern pirate village, its neat but i wish there was some task or importance to that place. Overall A+ Work i would recommend every1 to play this RPG.

payne wrote on Feb 28 2009, 7:09 am:
Well, when I played, it was buggy as hell, even though the guy playing with me left :O
And the revive thing was even more laggy and buggy :S

Arvendragon wrote on Feb 28 2009, 1:40 am:
There's no lag.

Personally, after playing, I like Spellsword better. Spellsword is an older RPG with less bugs and more community, and more good players.

payne wrote on Feb 27 2009, 9:42 pm:
Get us a non-laggy version and I'll play it ;P

Arvendragon wrote on Feb 27 2009, 7:29 pm:
Yeah, still stuck on ferry. How do you get off?

Arvendragon wrote on Feb 26 2009, 1:24 am:
So there is no way to get Eye of the Light?
There is sometime, I think after leaving first islands, where you get 3 Eye of the Dusts.

And how do you get Lifes and Animal Spirits?

Can more than one Eye of the Beholder be found?

r00k wrote on Feb 25 2009, 1:50 am:
You are right you can get the Eye of the Beholder only in a Treasure i thought there was a quest, but there is not.
The stairs i liked and wanted to put them in the map. But i wanted to kill the Temple be the last thing you have to do before you enter Act 3, so that is a little messed up.
Animals can be easily fixed i think, but if you are still on the idea to fix and change some things in the map i will wait till you have done it and maybe help than later if it is needed. Write me when you have done something so we can change the File in this Post if you want, and add your name to it.
One of the first things i downloaded before i started Mapping was Unused Unprotector. And i hate to use it, so my maps will always be open source, i think.

Arvendragon wrote on Feb 25 2009, 12:30 am:
Yay! Permission from creator to edit.
But next time, if you want to spend A LOT of time on a map like this, protect it to prevent it from being stolen.

Why are the stairs there then?

4 Animals is with 4 people. HEHEHE. 120k in ~1-2h, but....

What quests give you Eyes? I know the 20th (or 19th) treasure is an Eye of the Beholder, but what else?

r00k wrote on Feb 24 2009, 11:39 pm:
1. You played the newest version and its still possible to get 4 Animals ?
2. No. I never said that, they are in Treasures and as a reward for Quests, best thing you can find normaly is a diamond.
3. 11 Switches for Randomization. 1 for each item or gold and 1 for a 50% chance to find somethig.
4. No you dont use the stairs you take the ferry and enter from behind over the small bridge.
5. When i tested the Ferry it worked, i will test again.
6. When i fix the next bugs i can do that.
7. You are the second one saying that i must have a look for it.
8. Yes. The upgrades are connected over a switch. But it would be too much work to fix that, as i said i am working on another map at the moment.
9.Yes. You get 1 Upgrade ability per shield, but you can buy em in reverse order which sux cause you mightnot have enough gold left to upgrade.
10. Its open source, if you wanna do that feel free to do that. I think there are not that much left, but if you find some and you think they fit, your decision.

Arvendragon wrote on Feb 24 2009, 8:33 pm:
There's also a cheat.

During the cage animal fights, with 4 Wild Animals in it, they are almost impossible to kill, and 4 players can easily mass money there.

And ARE YOU SURE that you can find Eyes normally?
How many switches did you use for randomization of drops?

Are you not supposed to enter the Xel'Naga Temple area from the stairs by the ferry?

The ferry still traps you.

Also, you should put version numbers.

And, there's a glitch where we have killed pirates and gone to bars, and we could not finish the "Find the Master Magician" quest and got the "Kill the Dragons" quest. We could not advance as the DTs do not die.

Last, there is a glitch where if you Level Up, and receive a Knife, Sword or Magic Sword at the same time, or receive the sword and level up before you get to upgrade attack, you can not upgrade.

And with the Shields, if you get Shield of the Beholder immediately, you only get one upgrade, whereas when you upgrade one at a time you get three.

Also, recommend that you use the last few units as bosses/hard creeps/etc.

r00k wrote on Feb 24 2009, 6:38 am:
I fixed that bug with the animals you can only get 1 now.
and yes the upgrade thing you can cheat on...
which makes me sad :-(
i was damn happy when i finaly figured it out and thought you cant cheat. But you can. Actually i played with one guy that did all upgrades when he leveled the first time. I dont know how to do it better. Well maybe i could figure out something better, but i am working on another map and this should do it.
The max level was 8 for attack and 10 for armor, but the problem was that when you cheat on it, and you level when you are already maxed, you cant upgrade and your gas will stay on 3 forever and you get spammed by the upgrade message forever. ^^
I first didnt want to change it cause i thought cheaters would deserve that, but than i was aware that some people just dont know that they are not allowed to upgrade more, and so i decided to just make the max level 100. Which is ridiculous high but anyway if people feel like cheating there will be not that much fun in it for them i guess, [can play some stupid mass map than :-)]

Fwop_ wrote on Feb 24 2009, 3:11 am:
I gambled a lot since I had so much money. You can get like 5 or 6 wild animals in that pen where you get money when there are no enemies in with you. So I just built up and had enough so my units would never die and I wouldn't have to go back and get more wild animals.

What's the max level btw? And if you time it right, you can get two weapon and armor upgrades for one each time your supposed to.

r00k wrote on Feb 24 2009, 2:26 am:
^^ i never thought it will happen Fwop. i put this in as a little joke. Its 11 randomized switches, and trust me i gambled a lot and it never happened to me.... XD
----> arvendragon
I appreciate you do that although i dont like you wanna remove the music and i dont know which doodad you mean. Xel NAga temple is accesible from the back side, but you must kill it first of course. The treasure thing should be easy to do i was just a little lazy at the end.
If you have any questions i am in channel op sen most of the time or just message me. Anyway its open source and to speak in the words of my old friend Zeratul: "We will do what we must."

A fucking dog bite into my leg last night :-(

BlueWolf wrote on Feb 23 2009, 7:16 pm:
r00k's terrain may not blend well, but it's a style of its own. Just because r00k doesn't do terrain the way SEN members would approve of, but r00k still manages to get a certain feeling towards game play.

Arvendragon wrote on Feb 23 2009, 2:00 pm:
Okay, I know someone will flame me for this, but I am editing this map with an "easy version", removing the music for faster download, and also giving more clarification on what to do. And removing the stupid doodad that blocks the way, and also changing the terrain so the Xel'Naga temple is accessible.
And changing the ferry and the treasure limit.

Fwop_ wrote on Feb 23 2009, 3:58 am:
Wtf? I beat the game by gambling? r00k, the point of playing an rpg isn't to get the victory screen at the end, it's to actually play the map.

Fwop_ wrote on Feb 23 2009, 3:46 am:
I can't access the new land bridge. I talked to everyone in town and tried to do everything I could but the dark templars aren't being removed.

Arvendragon wrote on Feb 23 2009, 12:02 am:
Actually, its the square terrain that bothers me. Why is everything angular?

Remove the limit for treasures in singe-player though. And more weapon ups would be better.

r00k wrote on Feb 22 2009, 7:49 pm:
thx for comments.
Its my first rpg and i was learning by doing. I took some of the Falkoner Terrain especially for the second city, and i know it can be much better but it is not. :-)
The Ferry Bug should be fixed, i replaced the old version with the new one.
The Dragon Quest is somehow missplaced, you get it very early but you can only make it when you have finished the Thieves, cuase you need an scv...; but it is not bugged.
And i surely agree that its a little hard to find out what you must do, its all a little chaotic.
The Eyes can only be found when you finish Quests or in the Treasures, i think about changing the limit for Treasures (its 20 btw), i did it cause i wanted to give slower Player the Ability to get some Items in the End.

Arvendragon wrote on Feb 22 2009, 3:12 pm:
Need better terrain.

Dragon quest? Bugged. I saw it in SCM Draft 2.0, but how do you get in?

And Fwop_, remember the beginning? You can access a new area over a small land bridge. Be sure to clear out the cage first.

Can Eye of the Light and Eye of the Beholder be dropped normally? I found 3 Dusts somewhere, and a Beholder in treasure, but the Light?

Lastly, you should change the trigger that prevents players from getting more treasure after they got 10 or so. In 1/2 player, this KILLS. In end-game, you can't find anything when you KNOW there's Diamonds, Lifes and Eyes in those eggs, but you can't get them.

Fwop_ wrote on Feb 22 2009, 7:25 am:
I have no clue what I'm supposed to do. I got some dragon quest and a zealot, but I don't know what to do now. Map is decent, couple bugs that can change gameplay drastically.
