I haven't ever seen any wiki or thread on heroes in general... I was wondering if anyone had compiled a list of strange features of each hero, like Yggdrasill giving 30 supply, Raynor Vulture and BC as well as Fenix Dragoon/Hunter Killer having a faster fire rate, and Raynor vulture not starting with speed upgrade, etc. I recently heard here that Alan had a shorter ground range, which I hadn't even noticed before... I just would like to know what I might be missing out on. If I have to go out and test everything, I might eventually, but it'd be easier if someone already had a list, or had some things to add here.

If no list is found, then I'll start making one here, I guess, and anyone that wants to add what they know, or help experiment (like split up to one race or something), be my guest. If we do start making a list here, try to be pretty specific and thorough (attack rate and how much difference approx., movement rate, upgrades they don't start with, anything weird). Thanks ahead of time.

Gui Montag - Larger
Aldaris - Larger
Raszagal - Larger
Hyperion - Cooldown 22
All Hero Ghosts - Range 6
Fenix (Dragoon) - Cooldown 22
Infested Kerrigan - Cooldown 15 (animation is longer than most, making actual attacks much slower than an equivalent marine or ultra)
Alan Schezar - Ground Range 5, Air Range normal (5/8 bw)
Raynor (Vulture) - Cooldown 22
Zeratul - Cooldown 22, slower than Dark Templar
Dark Templar (Hero) - slower than Dark Templar

Hunter Killer has the same attack speed as a Hydralisk.

I can get you the exact numbers of the sizes if you want, but they're all in DatEdit.

Something interesting you might not realize is that ultralisks have a range of .5 (1 in DatEdit), meaning they can attack across a zergling.

The extended units (mengsk, Dugalle, Aldaris, Raszagal) all use the same weapon as the base hero, so if Tassadar does 20 damage, Aldaris will too, and you can't change it.

I don't get unit walk speeds at all, or the real attack ranges of units, since they are both interconnected apparently, and units which use flingy.dat instead of iscript.bin typically have a shorter attack speed than other units. For example, Hero DTs are slower, have a top speed of 853, and use iscript.bin. Regular DTs are faster, have a top speed of 750, and also use iscript.bin.

Kerri has a range of 6, as do both Durans, and Stukov. Regular Ghosts have the same range as tanks (7).

Um what do you mean by larger? And your stats don't mean much when you don't give the accompanying regular unit stats to compare to.

Wherever he said 'cooldown: 22', the regular unit's cooldown is 30.
By 'larger', he probably meant the space the unit covers (at least it is not the unit size that affects different damage types). Anyways, if that is what he meant, he did not mention that Unclean One is also larger than a normal Defiler.

Scout heroes do not start with speed upgrade either.

Also, computers never cast the following abilities on heroes: Yamato Gun, Spawn Broodlings, Mind Control.

I'm pretty sure mojo and artanis start with the speed upgrade.

Unclean One is larger too, forgot about him.

Ultralisks being able to hit over zerglings is perfectly reasonable. Those tusks are huge...

Not only that, in installation terrain they can even hit up from substructure to floor or the other way round (see in bw terran campaign level 7). :)

And even more, i saw zerglings and infested terrans do it too. :D

Infested terrans can't automatically go off that far away. Their splash damage can, however, and you can simply tell an IT to attack a place and it will blow up.

As for ultras being able to hit over zerglings, I just said something because they are peculiar as they are the only units to have a range of .5.

You're saying that Gui Montag's Armor type is Large, so it would be hurt 100% by explosive?!

Sep 1 2008, 6:44 pm rockz Post #14

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

Larger means that his dimensions are larger. He's significantly taller than the regular firebat. His unit size is still small.

No, this is what he is saying:

I think we should make a "things you probably didn't know" wiki or sticky.

Sep 1 2008, 7:25 pm Biophysicist Post #18

This is really obvious, but noobs (using to mean new people, not as an insult) might not know that Guardian Aspect, Devourer Aspect, Lurker Aspect, Archon Warp, Dark Archon Merge, and Nuclear Strike can't be used by heroes.

I noticed how PsiStorm's comparison pictures weren't "even", the firebat picture has a small black lining covering the top and right sides.

And for those dull of sight, some heroes have different wireframes, weither it be a little buckle, a bolt or some sort of tag, its different.
