Habitat

Progress: 100%

The beating of your heart pounds in your eardrums... There is no where to go -- no where to hide.

The Idea:
Three races fight to expand and colonize the area -- each doing so in a different style of game play. The mother country will supply weaponry, steel, and other material every now and then, but the real gameplay lies in the hero system. Every unit you can create will be based on the hero you choose -- and that hero will come in handy later on in game... (I won't reveal anything yet).

Gameplay:
Choose one of three races -- human colonists, alien swarm, or technologically advanced aliens (kind of unorignial, eh?) -- and then choose a hero for the race. Once again, this mod will have a storyline in every game. The storyline will drive the gameplay forward and will minorly influenced by the player's gameply itself.

Systems:
--Hero based tech tree
--Three different styles of gameplay
--Change material mined
--New gameplay styles with the help of EUDs
--New implementations of images/sprites/flingies
--Mathematical additions for new graphics
--WIll add to later

Models*:

--Miner (Final)

--Firefly (Final):

--Destroyer (Final)

--Dismantler (FINAL):

--Striker (Final)

--Interceptor Mirror (BETA):

--Mothership (Must be re-textured)

--Hangar (BETA) (I was mainly messing around with bumpmaps in this model):

--Jelloid (BETA)

Technically... none of them are in the proper angle. I just realized that my camera settings were off.

Lord of the Locker Room

As I said, textures are too chaotic (and sc's palette is going to royally annihilate them) and you had perspective/field of view on.

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Actually, those are already in SC format.

To me it looks like there should be MOAR team colour spots. Especially on the Jelloid, but all of them really. They would be recognizable as belonging to a team (except the destroyer when it's turned around), but I think they'd look better with a more generous amount of team colour.

Team colour is for women. Cool selection circles are the new thing.

As of yet, it doesn't look like much, but that's mostly because I don't have much of an inkling regarding what this'll be like in the end.
I think that you definately have a good concept. Keep going; I would love to see this develop. Give us an idea of the gameplay!

Well, graphically enhance + bonus features + a sick storyline + a couple of crazy twists to gameplay.

Okay, here's where it stands. I don't really know if I want to finish this -- I've been busy with my RPG game I'm making. The only reason I'm actually considering finishing this is to improve modding and such. In order to boost my hopes of this mod, I'd like to open the floor to ideas that you would like to see. Nothing is too fantastic, just shout whatever you want to see in a space colonilization mod based around space ships.

I'd really like to see Hero-centered gameplay for SC, like you described. Also, I'm not exactly sure what your graphical enhancements would look like, but I'm interested.

Not sure how well the Hero system would work well with a spaceship-centered game. If each hero had a personal fighter that could also be upgraded, it could have more promise.

That's all being created. What happens is that you are able to build ships that compliment your hero ship. That's mainly how the hero based tech tree works.

That's cool. I definitely want to see a hero system for SC.

Also, I thought of something else, but it may not be possible. "Gluing" smaller ships together to form larger ones, so you sort of earn your right to command bigger and more powerful ships. It's much more satisfying to build your way up to a monster capital ship than merely pressing a button and waiting longer to get your BC.

It'd be cool if you could get ultra-complicated with this and start modifying the ships' behaviors and physics based on how big/haphazard they are, but I doubt that's feasible in StarCraft. On the other hand, it could be as simple as an Archon meld for two ships, rendering them immobile while they're fusing. I'd think you could do multiple levels, too... such as:

wraith + wraith = super-wraith
super-wraith + super-wraith = ultra-wraith
wraith + super-wraith = super-wraith with sidecar

Just a few options like this could add a lot of customizability to a fleet, I think.

Anyway, that'd be sick. Do you think it'd be possible? If not, why not?
