Currently I have; 700 Rocket Launchers, 350 Light Lasers, 70 Heavy Lasers, 12 Gauss Cannons, 40 Ion Cannons, and 6 Plasma Turrets. No one messes with me. If I'm trying to save my res for a specific build, I FS when I get off, if not I don't even bother with it and just spend all res I have on defense. And like I said, No one attacks me, because I make it unprofitable to. they would lose more res in the ships they would lose then what they would actually gain attacking me while I'm off.

Nice. I figured it would be better to spend resources on ships and research/facilities over defenses since you can at least move the ships. I guess I'll invest more in the defenses if I start playing again.

I've noticed an attack 90 minutes before it happened. I lost my complete fleet to an attack that was early in the morning :S
Now I'm building defenses and keep my ressources low with research. Now I only get 3 espionage actions per planet per day because they can't milk me anymore...
If you pile to much money they attack...

I personally didn't like my spot in the Hydra universe. There were some active motherfuckers with moons nearby to me - hence my inactivity. And as I thought as soon as I got that grey little 'i' next to my name, I got farmed to shit.

I'll restart in the new universe (Jupiter, I think) when everything's fresh and we are on a level footing.

The key to building defenses is the ratio to how active you can be. If you have a few colonies and can be active enough to fleetsave for 12 hours (either doing a 10% deploy or a 20% transport), and you are able to log on BEFORE your fleet reaches home - preferably on the deployment mission, then you are safe to start building up a massive fleet and raiding people. [edit:] The reason you sign on before your fleet gets home on a deployment mission, is so that you can recall it if you were phalanx'd and someone has a huge fleet timed to hit your planet seconds before your fleet gets home. Sure, you lose 12 hours of fleet downtime (as they make the return journey) but at least you don't lose your entire fleet. There was a way to fleetsave that gave immunity to phalanx's. I think it involves sending your fleet on a Harvest mission or deploying to a moon.[/edit]

If you can't fleetsave effectively - ie: real life gets in the way (which to be honest, it kinda does). Build enough defenses so that hitting you becomes 'unprofitable'. This in itself is a myth, since if anyone wants to break you hard, all they have to do is make interplanetary missiles or a huge fleet - but it does deter 99% of players from hitting you.

Right, I never pile money. I spend it all on ships or research and whatever I do have by the time I sleep, I send on my ships to transport to my other planets over 6 hours (or however long I'll be asleep).

And regarding logging on before my fleet arrives, this last time I logged in 4 minutes after my fleet returned. I didn't think that 4 minutes would be so bad compared to waiting another 40 for the fleet to return (had I made it slower).

Most top players only invest in what they call 'over-night' defenses. As in, enough to protect or rather deter attackers from stealing what their mines produce overnight. But then again, these 'top players' literally spend every waking minute of everyday for months, stressing and worrying about their fleets. Constantly raiding other planets and spending every ounce of resources as soon as they can on more battleships, cargoes and battlecruisers.

I used to play oGame pretty actively on uni 21 I think it was. Our alliance was in the top 5 and we contributed to at least 8 hall of fame hits (of which I can remember). But, the one thing to learn from oGame is that there will always be someone better than you, with a bigger fleet - just waiting for you to slip up and not fleetsave. This is even more true in uni's where the alliance combat system (ACS) is active - and I think it is active by default on all the new (named) universes. Because all of a sudden two or three low rankers can club together and fuck your shit up.

When the new universe starts I'm keen for relocating - and if others here at SEN are interested, being an active alliance that crushes someones fleet at least weekly.

I think I'm more interested in the new one because I have a better shot of not being pissed at OGame for wasting my time.

Found a bug! Turns out Kassiopeia doesn't recognize Operator's PMs as taking up space until after you read it, making the count go to 65535. Also turns out that the PM count is 16-bit. ALSO turns out Imageshack adds another L to my full.png, so I look retarded.
