Relatively ancient and inactive

It's all in the eye of the beholder.
I was just thinking (An amazing coincidence! We share a bond...) what if it literally is inside someone's eye? Well, that's neither here nor there.

Not that many people left. Syphon doesn't discuss, and the main arguers are Frazz, Jordan, Dapperdan, and Kellimus. I remember when we had them by the dozen. Hopefully this site'll get more active once SCII comes out. They'll come flocking in. Cute little DEAD's and Syphon's with their weird hair and insane grins (I really mean this in a nice way :P).

i havent been here too long, but if i may judge, ide say that a select few people are known and everyone else just lurks. wich is why we should turn this into a gaming community. get a teamspeak, recruit people and make the place livley- everyone will play games together and crap yadda yadda

What is it with you and Teamspeak? Stop it. Nobody cares.

SEN is just a forum, there may be a community of people, but it should never get to the point where SEN should be some kind of pass-time activity.

I think it's mainly that most of the people that still think mapping is a worthwhile expression of their time went to Maplantis, and SEN doesn't have those people anymore to hold it up.

I think there needs to be more variety. Another thing is that isolatedpurity said they were going to eventually reset all the minerals to -100, but that was months ago, so the mineral system is kind of pointless.

if*

@Nerdy: corruption can be interesting, and thus not boring. I voted for that option. :} All the best members at SEN seem to just be here for the mafia.

Agreed. Except the vast gap between the SEN modding community and the Maplantis one is a far greater difference. LOTS of active members at maplantis are modders, and almost none of them do any posting here. Maplantis just offers more mapping and modding related stuff. I still have some fun here in the off-topic forums though. :/

im starting to lose clarity on what SEN is actualy for. is it a gaming community, a clan/alliance, or a mapping forum? ffs if i had known that too many people are tight nit and pissy i wouldtnt have come seeking help at all. Obviously i hold no ground to relate to what sen has ever done, but i can certainly give a view of a new member if anyone wanted it.

the place is great for getting started with mapping, because people are here to help, and people are always better than trying to make strange connections and such in tutorials and just cant find the cure-all for that strange thing thats wrong with your map. i understand with every forum you get trolls and ass holes alike, but it seems like more and more the place seems more and more hostile, both to me and everyone else. i try as hard as i can to stay out of clan affairs and forum management but i thought that ive supported SEN as best i can, made offers etc tried to give usefull opinions so i should have some sort of say or greater opinion in SEN as a whole, but the more i try to do so im getting shot down by people who's idea are generaly that i have no reason to think i know anything about SEN. And unfortunatley these people are the vets of SEN.

SEN was once the greatest UMS mapping site in the world, and those of us who were there as it rose prefer to hold on to that aura of grandeur. It was a place where you had to do something to be known; where we, in general, didn't need 'help' from anyone and the skills-market was heavily weighted toward the employers.

Now? Now it's just a community hangout. But think of it like an ancient, crumbling ruin. The sense of erstwhile glory and importance is never truly gone.

Haha, lost that awhile ago myself. :P

We're not any sort of official clan or alliance, but a group of friends or mappers. I don't know how much activity there is in the gaming aspect of SEN, but I've actually been playing more StarCraft lately. Perhaps it is time to organize more Map Nights and such.

This would be a map/mod centered community, but the lack of a database is rather frustrating and hurts this end. However, I am grateful for the activity that we do have in the assistance forum, and that we usually can give new mappers/modders and experienced veterans alike some help when they need it.

As for you Tartarus, don't let Merrell get to you. He isn't terribly serious when he yells at you. He just knows you're capable of better grammar based on your first few posts, and I, along with him, don't wish to see a decline. You are willing to work, which I appreciate, so I can smack him up for you. :P

This biggest problem was that the announcement of SC2 but a knife in the heart of mapping because a tone of people (like me) completely gave up on mapping original Starcraft to wait for the sequel. Ironically, I have been melee LANing people much more recently :P

SC2 killed UMS mapping for you?
DTBK, you've been around since way before SC2 was announced, and I am unable to recall the name of even one map that you have made.

EDIT: I've decided to have some fun with this. Sorry in advance for being an asshole. :P
