At least this challenge was able to produce some maps. Better than one or two.

The Challenge inspired people to map. The hard working mappers who push themselves to make deadlines produced it. I heard that excuse for the last time. ^^

The Last Stand RPG Challenge did it's job. We have a nice bunch of submitted RPGs, all very unique.

Attention judges:

I have agreed to head the judging committee. The current roster of judges appears to include...
Nuderaider
CecilSunkure
Psionic_Storm
TassadarZeratul

If you are one of the listed parties, please PM me or post in this thread acknowledging your judge status. We also need to agree on how we're going to judge.

If you want to be a reserve judge ( asked to render judgment in case of emergency), please message me to undergo the thorough vetting process.

Let me show you how to hump without making love.

In my personal opinion, these are the top three and for each, their own unique reasons.

1. Wonder by qPK -- This map is so unique and fun, that I could easily see myself playing through this map time and time again. If the map were just extended and more added, I would definitely keep SC just to play it again. I have already played through whats there about a dozen times. It's like bringing a platforming RPG to SC.
2. Tenebrous by Vrael -- Has the most content, makes the best use of old systems and mixes them with new ones, to make a unique game all it's own. Fun time with this map and the endless grinding gives you an extensive play time. It does, however, lack the direct fighting that Wonder has achieved through it's simple:" You got a new item! Now you can do this!"
3. Cataclysm by Fwop_ -- This map is great! It is professional, easy to use and just feels...Right. I could see myself playing this map and enjoying it, but it's just not quite as wondrous as Wonder.

I have updated my map with a few minor bug fixes and balance changes. The final areas and boss are not complete as of yet. You can use this one or the one I posted before for the contest. It doesn't matter to me, the fixes were rather minor. You will find the map attached to the last post of my production thread.

Also Loveless, if this was the Last Stand Abandoned RPG Challenge, then you would be right on. If we all spent a year working on the first few parts of our maps, I'm sure they would be just as spectacular. No offense to the makers, but I honestly do not think any map that is not at least 80% finished should even qualify for the contest. I also find it insulting that the judges were allowed to enter the competition, unless of course, they did it for fun and are not eligible to win. But then why enter? Why not just post the map in Map Showcase?

Also here are the screenshots I would like to use for my map on the front page:

Thanks OlimarandLouie. Also why does your sig say Majora when that is clearly skull kid wearing Majora's mask?

Your map won't win, no matter how much you smash other mappers.

Not every map requires the same amount of time or effort. With this in mind, a finished map may not be as good as an unfinished one. I could have easily finished my map, but I didn't because of the standard I hold myself to while constructing the thing. Also, as I said earlier, not everyone here has a ton of time to spend mapping, some of us are very busy and may have even joined the contest late to begin with.

I'm able to judge for the contest and submit a map because the point of me submitting my RPG into the contest was for reasons other than winning the contest.

You should probably not bash the straw-man.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

It's not a competition, it's a challenge to finish an rpg. There shouldn't even be judging other than the DLDB rating system.

Just so those of you updating, I'm only testing the ones on the first post, so unless Kaias updates his, I'm not playing the updated version.

Also, are any judges open tomorrow (MiLK day) for testing out Tenebrous and possibly another multiplayer RPG?

But mine has an infinitely better chance of winning than yours. That is, since you couldn't even come up with the balls to enter the contest, much less finish a map. Go ahead and make excuses.

Contest rules in general prevent judges from entering for a reason, to prevent bias. I'm not saying I'm going to win, nor am I saying that I deserve to win, I'm just trying to get everyone on even grounds and clear up the rules. Like I said, if everyone only had to submit a short "demo", then everyone could spend all their time on pretty systems and flashy terrain for the first bit of the map. And what reason would you have to enter an incomplete map while being a judge? Sure if it is just a challenge to create a finish a nice RPG then there should be no judging at all. But I would think that only maps that meet the requirements of said challenge (Quality, Completeness) should be displayed for mappers that rose to and completed the challenge. Most of us don't have a whole lot of time to finish the map, I go to college, and work 7 days a week, but I still finished mine during my breaks/free time. We did have an entire year. Excuses are like assholes, everybody has one.

You should probably not bash the straw-man.

I'm not sure what you mean by "straw-man" when you use it in this context. Now, if what you mean is "You shouldn't offend a judge" then you prove your bias against creators of the maps. Instead of judging by the criteria provided. Thus, I request that you be removed from your position as judge in this contest and replaced by a less biased individual. I do not expect to win but I do expect to be judged fairly. I've already heard several comments from other map makers that have entered this contest about the bias of the judges, and I don't intend to take it lightly regardless of how it may affect my chances. You have a false sense of power because you are a "judge", don't expect it to keep me from voicing my opinion. If you meant something different by that statement, then please clarify and disregard the previous paragraph.

This can't be true. Some of the people that entered the "challenge" entered with an abandoned or demo RPG that will never get completed. I agree with your second statement, if it was indeed a "challenge" then let's not make it into a contest. Especially one with biased judges.
