The lack of finished projects and the quality of the finished projects is utterly disappointing to me. :[ Oh, please. How does your response make any sense? What does my submitting something or not have to do with my opinion of the quality of what was submitted and of the lack of finished projects? If I had wanted to submit a project, maybe I would have finished, maybe it would have been great, but that's not the issue because I didn't choose to submit and I didn't choose to submit only a demo after having been given a year to create a good map. I don't have to partake in the contest to have an opinion about it. I said what I said because I was really looking forward to playing some good maps but so far I am disappointed. Where do you get off trolling me with such an ignorant comment just because I have an opinion about something that disappointed me? Keep your ignorant comments to yourself. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You can still play what was submit, as there are some pretty epically fun ones in there. Edit: (Not everyone had a year to complete their map anyways) |

Well, I would have taken your first post seriously if you had submit something, as I would have known that you went through what everyone else did. However, since you submit nothing, I chose not to take your post seriously. Really nothing to be upset over, they are only cookies after all. You can still play what was submit, as there are some pretty epically fun ones in there. My opinion is not any less valid just because I didn't submit a map. I'm upset because you have no acceptable reason to nullify my opinion. Doesn't it seem a little silly to submit a demo of a map that should have been done two weeks ago? It's an RPG contest not a demo contest. That's why it's disappointing to see so many clearly unfinished maps. I have every right to be disappointed by that, and you have no right to put me down in any way for having that opinion. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Just because one map is a demo and the other completed does not mean one or the other had more effort or time put into it or not. I created about twice the time-length of gameplay I have in my map, but only half of that is in the map. This is because I had to delete what I felt wasn't good enough for the map. About your criticism to me submitting a demo, I still have 30-90 minutes of gameplay. Also, not everyone had a full year to create their maps. I'm a very busy person during the school year, and entered the contest late to begin with. |

I never put you down, I just said that I didn't take your post seriously. This is because your opinion is coming out of a lack of the experience for creating a map for the contest, and more likely than not a lack of actually playing all of these maps. Since you didn't submit anything, I know that you didn't go through the experience that we all did. With that in mind, I know that any criticism that comes from you isn't anything that I should take seriously (pertaining to criticism about the general quality of maps submit, not necessarily gameplay aspects, as anyone who plays the map can criticize that). I know perfectly well what it's like to work on a map. I have never finished a map myself, so I don't criticize that the maps weren't finished. You misunderstood my intention in posting that and that is your quandary. I was simply expressing my disappointment that not enough maps were finished and you interpreted that how you saw fit. I wasn't criticizing anybody I was expressing my disappointment that I won't be able to play as many finished maps as I'd hoped, considering I was waiting the whole year to do so. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

New file version with starting money fix! http://www.staredit.net/?attachment=5438
Fix link in OP please. [Edit] Thanks. The only change was that I deleted a trigger (which was for testing purposes), that starts you out with a little gold. This post was edited 1 time, last edit by CecilSunkure: Jan 15 2010, 3:30 am. |

Umm yeah.. I thought I could get this completed in the last two weeks or so, but it turns out making an rpg takes a bit more work. This is barely functional. (Not even worth demo status imo.)
Don't attempt to buy anything. And most functions don't work, but you can cast (a very rudimentary version of) magic missile spell once you get to the open fields. (Use the reaver and tap r rapidly) Talking to people only works before the mayor cutscene. Which really isn't very far. You can go everywhere in the map, (I think, untested) although it doesn't do anything, and is just my old battle engine. (I wanted to modify that as well to fit this rpg, but meh.) This has only been tested once for two players, and that was just for the intro, so I'm not sure if anything will work with two people. (Aside from the battle engine.) Essentially just go explore the terrain, try to find the cool places in it and then say "screw you Rantent, I want a map." I'm not going to work on this map anytime soon though. Maybe if I ever get time enough to go back into mapping I'll finish it, but until then, bah. I have other things I need to get done now. The Reign of Darkness RPG.scx (1.93 mb) -- 7 hits Oh yeah, and the sounds are by Antonin Dvorak, and Leo Weiner, I would have added more if I had been able to finish the storyline some. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

For QPK/Judges: Map is intended to be played without lag. Map is intended to be played with 3-5 players. Map is intended to be played by competent RPG players. My target audience is not the average battle.net newbie, I don't give a crap about anyone who complains about not being able to figure out how to play my map. => Map is intended to be played by people with functional brains. => If you can't figure out the puzzle, tough. Completely the same when playing my RPG. If you play with 3 people you better be damn good and know what your doing. If you play with 5 people you stand a way better chance. I have a walkthrough setup but I want to release it maybe a month or so after the final release of my map. Also, to save on strings I'm going to REALLY cut back on the tutorial stuff. So in game I provide you with a link to my thread here at SEN that will provide you with all the information you need. Best to look at the thread before you play. BTW, it's Kenshin23 This post was edited 1 time, last edit by Kenshin23: Jan 15 2010, 4:31 am. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

BTW, it's Kenshin23 Oh yes- for those of you that downloaded and tried Lyoko's Afterworld RPG, I suggest you redownload it. The former version I had linked to was bugged so that it dead ended very early on. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Ok, here's my map. It is fully functional (as far as I know). There may be some bugs, but I think I fixed most of them. It's got sounds in it; I'll release a sound-free version later for a better b-net experience (with pubbies).

EDIT: It's called drop dead, and it's a 6 player zombie map. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
