Quote from Falkoner's Response
Response to the Ludicrous Dialogical Journals
The writing journal was a horrible idea, and the complete idiot who decided to assign it over the Summer does not deserve a position where they have the authority to make such decisions. Summer has already been slowly reduced each year, making it shorter and shorter, without the addition of an assignment. Reading the books is enough, and asking students to write ridiculous amounts of notes on the books is simply asking for ridiculous amounts of BS, BS which teachers are never going to read, because the sheer quantity is simply too vast. Testing at the beginning of the year is enough to ensure that students read the books during the Summer, there is no need to add any additional assignments, as the Summer is a time that is set aside to give a rest to students and to provide a transitional period between school years. Stressing out students over the Summer, and more precisely, during the last 2 weeks of their Summer does not help them in any way. In the future, I would hope that these silly dialogical journals will be done away with, since they are of no use and simply waste the time of the Teachers, and the Students.
At the end of a 20 page set of notes that was due at the beginning of the year, attached to the Summer assignment of reading Jane Eyre and The Jungle, we were told to write a response about our feelings regarding this "dialogical journal", so I wrote my actual feelings about it, as you can see above, and turned it in.
Unfortunately, at the beginning of the year I discovered to my utter misfortune, that the "complete idiot" who I had so happily insulted in my response, was my English teacher. And so, 2 weeks into the school year she has finally read my response, and called my parents, "offended" and wants a meeting with them. And now I am permanently screwed through the biased opinion of an angry English teacher. Joy.
So, anyone have an answer as to why English teachers such so hard?
None.
This sounds like a personal problem. You're not allowed to have your own opinion until you get at least a doctorate.
Why English Teacher's Suck
Oh the irony.
EDIT:
And who did you think you were going to turn in the assignment to? Of course the teacher was the one who assigned it.

LOL i thought there was some sort of satire involved in this topic just by reading the title.

Who else would handle your assignment on the "READING" of Jane Eyre and The Jungle? Your math teacher? It could have been another English teacher, but way to get off on the wrong foot with your teacher.
None.
Just to clear things up guys, that
was intentional, hence the:

At the end. Now, can we get past the irony?

I was given the assignment by my teacher from the year before, I assumed it was either another English teacher, or some board in our district coming up with the assignment.

Fair enough, though it still does seem like a dumb move. Just tell your parents what you said, maybe they'll understand.
I think you should have some better word choice for idiot, probably would saved alot of work for you. But I don't see anything wrong besides that, you were doing what you were being told to, expressing your feelings about the assignment, so hopefully at least your parents can see your reasoning. Can you switch out of the class maybe? Get a new teacher?
None.
Admittedly, I shouldn't have targeted the person, or at the very least, removed the obvious insult, complete idiot, I already showed it to my parents, that's not really the issue, the issue is that my parents now have to waste their time to appease some offended English teacher.
I thought about getting a new teacher, but there's only one other AP English teacher, and they're good friends, AND that teacher hated my older brother, so I'm basically stuck.
None.
I wrote 20 journal pages for 5 novels. Each. Hand written.
The point of a journal is forcing you to actually read the books and form your own conclusions. Students nowadays are used to reading someone else's conclusions on the internet and calling them his/her own; which gets you absolutely nowhere when you're required to think critically.
If you had had better planning, you would have allotted yourself more time to read the books comfortably. Complaining about the assignment because you put it aside for the last two weeks of summer is foolish: it was no one's fault but your own.
English teachers are supposed to teach; summer reading is a way of giving them material to teach for the first few weeks of class while you're reading material for the next few weeks of class, rather than doing bullshit that so many curricula are forced into by poor organization and planning. I applaud your department head for academic rigor, my AP senior English class for which I did the aforementioned journals was the most rewarding and most interesting class that I took in high school.
And sense were making fun of you're grammer; and your pretending its intentional- ain't sposed to be "Summer".

Wait, what? I think he used "she" to describe the teacher, not me. I think. I hope.

The problem with English teachers is that if you independently reach a conclusion of a work different than their own, they can't accept it.

And this is why I despise English beyond belief. This also brings up my hate of English teachers correcting my word choice by replacing it with a synonym. How can you correct my word choice in MY essay? If I write down significant, I mean significant, not important. English is too subjective of a course for my liking.

Haha, this sounds like my school. Just because she hated your brother doesn't mean she'll hate you though, unless you're exactly like your brother. To be honest, English AP didn't really help me at all. Unless you plan on getting a five on the AP exam, it's only going to make high school harder for no particular reason.

Why English Teacher's Suck
Never joke like this. NEVER.
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
You could have worded your argument a lot less aggressively. It sounds very hostile, like a personal attack.
If you had been more diplomatic yet still got your point across your teacher may not have got so butthurt.
