Is a 7x7 mobile grid possible?

None.

You're doing it wrong if you are trying to alternate it. You're supose to create one first, then remove, give to another player, remove, etc. Keep in mind of "lower left" in mobile grid.

A 7x7 grid is possible, but it's tricky. For starters, you had the right idea. The problem actually comes from the first scourge created; that is, if the first scourge is created offset from SC's grid, it'll throw off the entire mobile grid. Fortunately, there is a way to fix this. Before you create your 7x7 grid, try this: create a mutalisk grid (3x3), center on the rightmost mutalisk, and remove that last grid. After you do that, create another 3x3 mutalisk grid from that recently centered location and center on the leftmost mutalisk this time. After these two grids were created and removed, you can now create your 7x7 grid and it should be aligned.

Also, SC doesn't work bottom up. When triggers act on a unit (ie. a location is centered on a unit or a unit is removed), SC essentially scans all units to find the leftmost one. If two units lie on the same X coordinate, SC uses the one most recently acted upon. In the case of mobile grids, if there is a column of units on the same X coordinate, SC will act upon the most recently created.

woo you rule man.

is there any way to make it 1.0 7x7 without alternating units? takes up almost whole trigger (more if doing 9x9)
now to try drawing star :D

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

no. If you need to do more, simply link them using a death counter/switch.

Here's a 9x9 grid of guardians/mutalisk/arbiter/devourer. Obviously, you can create the units in a different order, which would make less actions.
Collapsable Box

gdamn I assume a 9x9 with 1.0 sizing is going to be waaaaay difficult to create / use?

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

not at all.

It's going to be waaaaay difficult, but not too difficult to use. You'll probably need well over 100 actions to finish it. It's 81 at least to make the grid. Just as a sidenote, adding actions doesn't make the map much bigger. In fact it doesn't make the scenario.chk any bigger, just that the mpq manages to compress a bunch of 0s a lot better than other stuff. Just use logic throughout. While what I did was fairly easy to do, I had to think about it.

I knew I could only make 25 at a time, so first I needed to make the 5x5, then make some on the corners. Since 9 already overlap, I can only make 16. Once I had that, I tested it out, saw I could only fit 14 on the next corner, and 14 on another corner, then 12 on the last one.

Do you think I should attempt drawing this star / pentagram shape or is it insane? :-(

81 pixels is pretty terrible quality.

Is this what you're looking for?

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

the 1x1 grid is only supposed to be used up to 9 units... more units can mess it up. I would call it a "step".

You need to use multiple steps. Then you can achieve everything
(unless you haven't enough units because even removed units count as a unit during the trigger checking phase (1700 max on map). I've noticed that in my D1 map.
[create 1000 units, remove 1000 units, create 1000 units] is impossible in 1 turn).

For the future, please check the wiki before posting a topic, it may have all the answers. The offset glitch is described in the Grid Systems article.

You can also acheive the same shape (A bit blockier, but no alternating units, like you said) By using straight up Wraiths.

I've read it and the offset glitch doesn't have any pics and is described as happening when the unit is moving so...

That's pretty awesome but I was thinking more of a pentagram star shape you know? Not a solid star. It was going to be an animation for a hex spell.
like this kinda

Might will try it thanks for the advice.

The wraiths will give you the pentagram shape without filling it in, better than the observers.

How did he make a 9x9 (with only observers it seems)?

That is prettttty godly. Can you post your triggers? :O With hallucination death it is basically exactly what I needed.

He placed them in SCMdraft and deleted them.. He didn't make any triggers to get that effect.

woo I drew it on a 1.5 9x9 grid in just barely over a full trigger!
There seems to be a problem with detecting hallucinations of players 9-12 though? :O
