TassadarZeratul and I are proud to present: The Single Unit Modding Contest!

I got this idea after me and TZ modded and battled a Hydralisk and a Scout.


SUMMARY: You mod 1 unit's iscript (nothing else), and then we duke them out in an epic FFA!


RULES:
-Iscript editing only.
-1 unit only.
-You can only modify the unit's iscript, not its weapon.
-There is a maximum of 1 spell effect (e.g. Lockdown) per unit. However, units that orginally had spells may still use them normally. (ex. Ghost can still cast Lockdown in addition to its spell effect)
-Said spell effect must be randcondjmp 32, a.k.a. have a 1/8 chance of firing.
-No cloaked units.
-Grp editing is allowed.
-Don't spam attacks. No more than 3 attacks (not including spell) per attack cycle. (GndAttkInit/GndAttkRpt)
-Don't use someone else's unit.
-No half-assed entries.


LIST OF BANNED UNITS/SPELLS/WEAPONS:
-Lurker
-Dark Templar
-Infested Terran
-Scourge
-Spider Mine (the unit)
-Nuke (the unit and weapon)
-Mind Control
-Spawn Broodlings
-Cloak
-Burrow
-Also, Lockdown/Maelstrom/Stasis will be shortened to avoid imbalancement.


TIPS:
-Be creative.
-Use a spell effect.
-Choose a unit that can attack ground and air.

Be creative with your entry.

We will have a FFA at the end of the week, Sunday the 1st, 7:30 PM CST, Shadowflare, Mod Night. PM the unit's iscript (preferably in .txt form) to me by Saturday the 31th, 11:59 PM CST.

Post what unit you will use, so no one else uses it.

Refer any other questions to me.

EDIT: Depending on the amount of entries, I might release the mod as SEN Doom.
I hope someone can make a video out of this and post it.

I'm going to assume you meant that you can't use the mine in spells... (I did that in our battle, too... Would have killed him if I could actually AIM...)

I think we should also ban Optical Flare, you would have been dead once I hit you with that if you hadn't Burrowed. (That should also be banned as well, probably... Just IMO.)

so we can only modify a single iscript and it can only have a randcordjump for spell? Can we edit stuff in firegraft? hmmm i dont think i could use any of my units in my mod as is.

adding burrow or giving a spell to a unit that doesnt have it. I dont see why not, i mean as long as we only have one spell (is burrowing a spell?)

Can I put a Distruption Web in my Arbiter's spellcasting animation instead of the Stasis Field/Recall? (I'll take out the castspell command.) If so, can I still have a spell effect in my normal attack routine? And does the Devourer's acid count as a spell effect?

You can't do that. By "you can only have one spell" I meant useweapon (spell).

You don't need a spell-casting unit in order to use spells. Here is an example of how you could have a Marine use lockdown:

MarineGndAttkInit:
randcondjmp 32 Lockdown

Lockdown:
useweapon 32 (which is lockdown)

Wouldn't you need a gotorepeatattk at the end of that Lockdown block?

Also, maybe this would be more fun if you had three respawns (triggers). Also, maybe there should be superspecialawesome terrain instead of just the "blank" map we used?

Moar questionz!

1. In the Shoutbox, you said Spider Mines was fine for spells, but it's still listed as b&... O.0

2. You never said if you liked my 3 respawns idea...

3. What upgrades will units start with? Eg. Energy upgrades, Adrenal Glands, Singularity Charge, and so on... Probably all of them, right?

1. Spider Mine (as in modding the Spider Mine's iscript and using it as your entry) is not allowed. Using it's weapon/using it as a spell (as in Vulture) is OK,

2. I like it.

3. We're using heroes, so...

Whoo, this is nostalgic. I remember participating in the first Deadliest Unit Contest, and devising the rules for a second ( though I can't seem to find the thread I made for them in Doodle's SEN record... my poll asking if I should start one was 3.5 years old, so it should be there ... )

I'm gonna see if a couple of ideas of mine work, and if so I might join.
