In my opinion, the aren't that many mappers anymore, so having a forum this populated which is only about mapping and modding is already pretty impressive. But I agree with the DLDB being a little user-unfriendly and undone . Especially the review section vs the rating system. The thing is, there aren't enough people that cares about map making anymore to keep them alive. But i seriously doubt this dude knows anything about mapping/modding.

And SEN =/= melee only, a lot of us are UMSers. So you can't judge our mapping skills based on melee skill.

The best meleers at SEN are D+. 5 years ago, the most active members may have hit C-. C- is a requirment for standard clans like LzH, etc. You will find that people will give advice who don't play sc anymore.

This database sucks. Not easy to upload. Noone would submit maps other than their own.

We are not like Starcraft Wikia. We don't summarize the damn SC Storyline, or post every dumb fact about Starcraft. No. There's a campaign editor or a DatEdit.

People need to realize that when the greatest UMS Starcraft site is focusing much more on things other than UMS mapping, it's not because we're wrong, it's because UMS Starcraft is dying. And it's not surprising, with the release of Starcraft II looking nearer every day.

And for the record, I fix on average three sets of fuxored tags a week. So the DLDB staff does stuff.

You guys did not post any advice on what you wanted to change. SEN is now a bunch of forumers who hardly play SC. It's mappers are the second rate ones. The only admirable group left is the modders. The clans are second rate as well. The moderators fail to do their jobs adequately. Find moderators that will do alot.

And you have failed to reply to any of our arguments. If you had bothered to read anything, you would notice that we actually answered everything you said. We didn't "give any advice on what [we] wanted to change" because we don't want to change anything, we like our community the way it is. Things will get better when SC2 comes out.

Why is this bad? No, I'm not saying it's good. It is netiher good or bad, it is what it is.

The thing is, you've come in and you are trying to rewrite our ambitions for us. You're saying SEN is bad primarily because it does not have the focuses you want it to have... which just isn't true. People in general, including SEN, are not going to automatically care about and place the same value on the ideals and things that you do. While you raise several valid points about certain things, it just doesn't work when you start to redefine the purposes of SEN. When you're doing that, how receptive do you expect us to be?

If you "hate" Doodan for being "horribly liberal and opinionated," then you must think the rest of out moderators are Antichrists and Communists. Doodan is the coolest guy around, and he does his job well.

Killer_Kow and Doodan are two of the best moderators I've seen anywhere. I've been to a lot of forums in my time, and you won't find better than these two. Take your personal problems and keep them where they belong: in PMs.

I really think this is finished.. most responses here have hit the nail on the head, which shows how damn big the nail's head is. He has an idealist image of a mapping community that does nothing but make maps 24/7. He mixes that in with a personal (and rather creepy) vendetta against our most respected staff members.
