Resident Evil: Raccoon City
Version 1.xx Series


For the past year or so I've been working on an authorized, permission-granted editing process on Panzer's RE: Raccoon City. I started with his last known official edit, 1.09, and worked my way on from there.
(There are reports that dispute this and say it was his cousin, whatever the case may be, it was widely accepted as his last approved release. When I spoke with him some years ago I told him it was the version I would be working off of and he had no objection.)
Panzer was one of my favorite mappers, and indeed, the map itself is a classic. The goals of this project have always been to keep the map as close to its original concept and play style as before, while enhancing the game play, quests, and features. Now it is a matter of opinion, and there have been many who disagree with me, but I find that the 1.xx series has been working towards that goal with precision and passion. Or at least, that has always been my attempt.

Without further mention of it's past, and I hope you will keep the past in the past when you comment on this map below, I give you the data.

-Players: 6 Human, 2 Computer
-Play Style: Defense / Tactics / RPG (Due to the quest elements.)
-File Size: 288KB uncompressed, 207KB compressed. (As of 1.44. I am looking for better compression methods at this time as I find 200KB+ unacceptable.)
-Units: 1086 pre-placed. (No CCMU issues at this time.)

And please remove the "[6]" in front of the name, I hate when I have to keep that kind of stuff into a filename just to not have to download it back from someone else :flamer:

Well, it has been tested, but due to the insane amount of triggering and re-triggering done in the map, rather than it completely being remade, bugs fall out of the woodwork every so often. And I dislike the DLDB. It needs a lot of work.

The problem is my ports will not forward correctly, and since I'm on wireless behind a router, I can't host or play without extreme lag. Unless I find a way to fix this, there's nothing that can be done. I'd really love to Phobos, but I can't. ;-;

If the goal was to make it as close to the original concept as possible..I believe it has failed..I will consider this as map as an edited version rather than a remake.
but it does look like a nice map (could you have atleast made the doodads not so scmdraft..the original was very xtra editor made)

There were certain core gameplay elements I wanted to keep true, like the ups area, which you did not. Quite frankly Johnny, I clearly denounce you and the other editors in the briefing, and I could care less what you have to say about it.

Taking a SCV to the armory will occasionally cause it to glitch, not being able to move it out. Or at least some people reported while playing.

Just finished playing for the first time, made it to 0:18 second left.... damn those canisters :><:

I believe your edit gave each player their own upgrade facilities. That was not intended to be how the map was, though PK could of easily done it.
PK was a USEast mapper, and I spoke to him, and to one of his friends at the time, Speed-Limit. I know mines authentic, and I question yours.

As for the SCV glitch, yes I know, I'm going to work on a fix for it.

I'm not sure if he did, but he 'made' Maze D, which he stole from PK when it was in a VERY early beta. He also helped PK with RE:RC's hyper triggers and unit orders for P7.

Also, this seems to be a glitch for all the maps in general, but if someone is in the armory when the additional supply depos become available, you won't get them. Wondering if there was a way to fix that aside from not being in the armory at the time.

And not a glitch per se, but can't find the sewer access point.

Did it happen in 1.44? Because I believe I did something to fix that, although I'm not sure.

PK was not A uswest map maker Speed-limit was also an uswest map maker who moved to useast.(or maybe speedlimit did both servers) How old were you when you met PK? The authentic PK is not the current one nor a USeast map maker.
