Minerals were fun. If the system was brought back, with no minerals given for posting in the null section, then members who contribute more would be recognized.

If it isn't going to come back, however, then it's unfair that some people have extra bonuses, merely for being around back when there were minerals and a store.

I didn't mind minerals, but I would be happy to see them back. Though if they do not come back, I want all that stuff to be removed so we can actually use name colours for something else, so I'm like the first option, then if not, the third option. :P

Hello

No they shouldn't. I'm pretty sure this topic will be locked within the next three hours.

Minerals were cool. I'd like to see them again, but if SEN is adamant about not having them its not a big deal to me if some people have name colors and others don't. I like the "no minerals for posts in null" idea, and if we were to bring them back it'd probably have to be non-quote-character-count related, instead of just like 1 mineral/post, cause then people will just spam posts. Also then we could fine people minerals for stuff again.

Hello

I actually prefer this idea:
there would be several (elite) members which observates others and gives them items like shoutbox-color when they think that the person deserves it. Everything else would cause spam.

Minerals meant nothing, they were an added little thing just for fun. People somehow correlated lots of minerals to being elite or being newb, depending on ones personal respective view.

I don't care either way, but I think everyone else should be the same.

I'm hoping that Moose will get around to giving the features without the mineral system, but I'm against anything that takes away my name color. I worked for that!

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

More like spammed your way to that, though.

I don't honestly see a reason to have minerals, unless it is to reward users for winning contests and such.
Even that way, this could work even more if there was no minerals and there was only SEN Prizes.

For example, prizes would be, more PM space item, name colors, shoutbox colors, whatever. And given that winning a contest would be the only way to get them I'd assume people would participate more in contests, thus, create more maps/mods, make the community make more things to be recognized... and all that jazz.
That's the only thing minerals were good for, rewarding people, motivating them to continue being productive. The SEN Prizes would be like minerals but without the OMG SPAMMER idea and would still enhance the SEN Experience.

One would only need willing administrators to provide and back up contest hosters with their demmands. And of course, probably better implemented items and a send feature.

fuck you all

Feel free to provide links to 2500 minerals worth of spam, Corbo. Hell, 100.

I guess I'm going to say it would be better not to bring them back, because they would be so horribly screwed up if it were attempted..

They were fine when they were only given for the mapping and modding sections, it's when they were given for everything that they became a problem.

I still like my system of "give shit to cool people because I feel like it."

My personal support for such a system would depend on my classification on the scale of coolness.

Yeah but this conflicts with the mentality that working hard yields results and encourages a community of sucking up and corruption. Not cool.

But that assumes I think sucking up is cool.

Eventually, people will figure out what you consider to be cool, whether that be sucking up, flouting authority, or something else.

I bet more maps were made while minerals were available, as apposed to when they were removed from SEN.
