ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

k gais,

I want you to help me choose what should the next musical instrument I learn will be.
I already know tons of stuff and I just got out of classes so I probably won't remember I made this topic tomorrow (My mind resets when I sleep after 3 days of not doing so :P) and this topic is probably fail.

BUT right now the problem is that I am going to go buy a new musical instrument tomorrow or maybe next week. I decided to learn something rather small and somewhat cheap, less than $100, that is.
Note that I want it to be cheap because I'm going to be spending more money on an SLR I am buying and small because it should be somewhat easy to learn but productive musically and I only have around 3 weeks to do so.

I was thinking on buying a melodica (if that's even how you say it in english otherwise just youtube it) or an harmonica, I've been wanting an harmonica for quite a while now and they are somewhat easy, I assume is just blow and be awesome like that, I wouldn't worry much about learning the notes and all that jazz since I can just play things by ear and identify the notes myself and blah blah blah.
Now now, the melodica is becoming quite insteresting since it introduces both, winds and keys.

So I'd REALLY appreciate if you guys proposed something more or else just help me decide between those two.

So you don't suggest these

EDIT: Oh yeah, and don't make it REALLY weird, remember I live in a third world country so things tend to overprice or just "Whats that?"

buy a set of wine glass cups, then fill each one with a different amount of water in each, then I think you use oil to rub against the edge of the cups and the vibration should cause sound, then you can make music! x]

None.

I highly doubt I'll get to fill the exact ammount for them to be perfectly tuned D: (At least I'd have to spend quite a while) and I think you use the same wine to produce vibrations.

The other thing the black slave is playing probbaly cannot be found here, plus it's too big and I already have my room filled with plans, models and a bunch of puzzles besides the instruments :P

I'll probably just go harmonica although melodica just looks way too fun D:

fuck you all

For $100 a harmonica is a pretty good bet.

As a musician (clarinet), the idea of an instrument costing less than $1000 and being good is odd :P

I'll probably have to pay a bit more, though. The good ones that can even go up half tone cost like $180. The thing about harmonicas is that you'd have to buy many of them in different keys but one itself is not that expensive. I also understand the thing of an instrument not costing less than $1k but I'm spending most of what I have on my SLR so I can't spend much, not that I would anyway :P

I initially wanted to grab a sax and learn but I realised I have no time or money.

Vrael, I wouldn't buy a musical instrument on ebay because you cannot really try it first to hear how it sounds, if it's tuned or not. Besides, I can't really buy on ebay since no one really likes to ship things here and I'll just end up paying a lot more than what I'd pay buying it here anyway.

Syphon, string instruments are just too easy now for me they're all basically the same.

fuck you all

Inherent problems aside (I would never buy on ebay either), you still can't really find a decent instrument on ebay for less than $1000. Chances are you're being ripped off :P

Keytar! If you already know how to play piano, it shouldn't be hard, just have to get use to holding it differently.

Back when I wanted to play harp I did not find any and everybody told me that I has to either make it (obviously someone else) or buy it in another country.

And I can wear that without playing bagpipes

I'm getting one later, there's a guy in omnimusic that mentioned something about a program and blah blah blah. I have to buy a cheap one and an interface for something + the software = kickass appearantly. I'm still considering it, we'll know in a couple of weeks.
Besides, I said something small for now.

Instead of buying an actual music instrument, take vocal lessons.

Here me out:

You already know electric guitar.
You already know bass.
You already play the drums.

The only other aspect of music worth pursuing is vocal lessons.
