Why does the Melee section need to be expanded?

Red classic.

I have mostly left SEN except for the Temple Siege 2 forum (hidden to most of you). I am available via PM still, and Skype as JackRCDF.

If it is important to you, you will find a way. Otherwise, you will find an excuse. -Unknown
Magnificent!
Perhaps you shouldn't be on SEN as much, too...

In case you guys haven't noticed, Blizzard takes any site, no matter how new or bad, much more seriously than SEN if they are melee focused.

If we ever want any keys, attention, or anything at all, or even for just the sake of making a better SEN, I would highly suggest we cover SC2 melee and devote more resources to it than we did for SC1.

You've gotta remember though, Blizzard stated they'd be paying much more attention to the modding community in SC2, not that I have any quotes or anything.... but I'm sure some people can confirm that.

I DO agree with you nonetheless.

If we switch to melee, Blizzard will pay more attention when melee is concerned. That's it. Leave it as it is; we're not a melee community. Create the appropriate atmosphere for melee-making, but that's not our specialty.

I wasn't saying become TL, I was saying we should do what we do, AND do melee, and do them both well. A 50/50 split is easy to do, rather than the 90/10 split we have right now. Hell, any improvement would be welcome at this point.

I gladly accept to do what I can, but one person a division does not make. I'd need people like BeDazed to commit to helping me out. AND we'd need to somehow bring in more melee interested members.

I used to moderate the melee section/make some maps/play melee seriously/follow the pro scene, so if you want some input on how you want to do things, you can ask me.

If we actually do a melee division of sorts, you and Dazed would probably be my main people in moderating the melee section and doing articles/analysis/writeups ect. But that depends on how much room IP/Moose/whoever gets admin give me to do this shit.

Hmm I'm sorry, but I feel that this may be a constant battle with many casualties and losses. I am not sure that this will ever be complete, so perhaps it may be good to put an "In progress" next to it? :bleh: What I really posted for though was not just for my sarcastic comment but to see if there is anything I may be able to help with.

This is quite an interesting thread...

Regarding the (now old) discussion about Blizzards attention to affiliates... We need to grow, this is my opinion on it. We need to focus entirely on all things Starcraft 2 orientated. This includes Melee AND Custom-Mapping... What we could start doing... in terms of allowing the Melee section to 'catch up' with the custom section... is this:

host in house tournaments? replays? strategy sections? general balance discussions, views and opinions, etc... I play a hell of a lot of melee - because I hate the current state of the popularity system and banality of the custom maps on EU.

I admit, I am new blood to SEN but I have jumped in with both feet and really want to help the community out... the first thing that strikes me upon reaching the site - is the sheer number of categories the forum has... I (personally) would like to see the overall lay-out of the forum cleaned and tidied up - but, I must admit, yet again, that I know very little about forum moderation and maintainence - and I'm assuming that the current lay-out has been set in stone (more or less) since the inception of SEN back in who knows when.

Anyways, just thought I would chip in my two cents on the matter.

Gone.

I'd just like to say during my annual visit SEN crashed.

It's still doing that?

Yeah, that's an old feature that apparently someone never fixed. I remember finding that when I first got here, then forgot about it until now.
