Let me show you how to hump without making love.

Some well known games are being ported to movies from what I hear. I decided to do research on these rumors and found a few of them to be true.

God of War is one of them, pretty decent game. Universal Pictures decided to pick this one up and has Brett Ratner directing it. Brett Ratner is the guy who directed Rush Hour 3, X-Men The Last Stand and is directing Beverly Hills Cop 4. Personally, it seems like he has down more urban films, but he did direct the latest X-Men movie, which wasn't bad at all. It was much more appealing than the first two and seemed overall better directed, so we will see. No screen writer(s) for this movie have been revealed as of yet.

Gears of War is a huge game. Giant fanbase, very popular and just about every gamer has played it, most liking what they saw. New Line Cinema (WB) is the brave studio that is going after this attraction and the director is Len Wiseman, who directed Live Free or Die Hard and Underworld: Evolution. Great background for this movie in my opinion. The screenwriters for this movie are Chris Morgan (Wanted, Fast and the Furious) and Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean, Collateral, 30 Days of Night). Just a little sidenote, but Stuart Beattie is the supposed screenwriter for Halo: The Fall of Reach. A quote from New Line Cinema, "story unfolds as a ragtag group of soldiers use every last ounce of strength to survive the onslaught from the forces of evil, which begins on the historic Emergence Day." Look forward to this one I think.

And like said above, Stuart Beattie apparently is a lone screenwriter for the Halo movie everyone has been hearing about, but I could not find any information on any movie studios picking this up or directors.

None.

I think Brett Ratner is an idiot.

I have more faith in Len Wiseman than I'd like to admit. Not a fan of Chris Morgan (who did Tokyo Drift, not the first Fast and the Furious), but I think Stuart Beattie has done some good work.

Peter Jackson (of the LotR fame, obviously) is producing. Due to conflicts, the project is basically being shelved for an uncertain amount of time.

The Halo one isn't legit. I know that the original supposed director of Halo did 3 live action shorts for the release of Halo 3, but it is only rumored that they're related to any feature.

And the Thundercats one isn't real at all, just cleverly re-colored and edited.

Entertaining, though. :)

I believe that dragon ball is also coming out (if you can consider it a video game):

And no one can forget Legend of Zelda:

In fairness, he did Rush Hour 1 and 2, as well. 3 did suck, though.

Let me show you how to hump without making love.

Yeah, I remember seeing a show about the guy who did the Arms Race short, who was the supposed guy going to do Halo, but he said, "He's not even sure if their serious about it." No source for that info, I recall seeing it on G4.

The only movie listed out of all of these that seems legit is Gears of War and sounds like its going to be fantastic.

"I think Brett Ratner is an idiot."

I can agree with that statement, to a fair amount anyway. I find it annoying on how any movie with him as director you see ''Directed by Brett Ratner.'' Almost every five seconds. I mean, honestly now! Firstly we see it in trailers ''A movie directed by Brett Ratner.'' We see it on the movie case, ''A film by Brett Ratner.'' and of course, we see it when the movie opens. ''A film by Brett Ratner.'' Which kind've informs everyone that this guy is a tad bit full of him self.

Aside from that, I also wish to complain on how any movie directed by him comes to a climax ridiculously fast. I mean, when I watched X-Men I was displeased how fast he killed some characters off. When he directed Jackie Chan I was displeased on how fast it ended, it didn't even seem close to the ending.

Aw well, complaints aside there are definitely worse directors, who was that guy that directed Harry Potter Five? The movie was practically a clip show!

Complaints aside however, I distrust Game to movie transitions, because lets be honest. They hardly ever work! The resident evil movies were screwed up on how he made Alice the main character, but it got me even more angered on how Resident Evil extinction was practically ONLY about her. It seemed none of the other characters mattered, where the hell is Jill? Who the hell was that guy in that white van? Why the hell was Claire in the movie if Leon wasn't even nearby? Who in bloody hell is Isaacs?!

and I will do us all a favor by not going into how horrid Doom or Living Dead was...

My opinion on X-men 2 was that the third was the worst, it was far too fast and lacked the development like the other two. and I suppose my own bias is also very apparent on this post, I'm just mad because Gambit hasn't been in a single one.

Wait, what? You don't like X-Men 2 or 3?

Brett Ratner only did X-Men: The Last Stand (3). Bryan Singer did the first two.

And you'll be seeing Gambit soon enough in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. :D

EDIT:
And yeah, I had hope for David Yates (director of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), but he was disappointing. Unfortunately, he's doing the remaining 3 films as well. Good times.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

There is only one movie ever based on a game, or in this case, an amusement park ride, which didn't suck. That movie was Pirates of the Carribean.

Need I remind you:
Doom
Wing Commander
Silent Hill

Also, there's a shit ton more, none of which were good.

I'm kind of interested in how the Bioshock movie will turn out. Should be interesting to see.
