Not another Helms Deep, redoing an old map

Assault of Troy (names prolly going to change)

So I was strolling through my editor and came across my old map I never finished and hardly tested. I started looking at it and I immediately realized a bunch of things i did wrong and things i could fix so i started tweaking, redoing, the works. So everybody prepare for a decent invasion style map. THEN... I came up with some much better ideas and decided to scrap the map, now I can load most of the setting, reuse some terrain brushes and make a much better map :)

Sorry but this is a premature post, I don't have screenies yet (new to the rule)


Setting/Theme:
-1200 B.C.
-The Trojan war

Specs:
-256x256
-Jungle
-Siege map

Features:
-Hero's with melee/ranged weapons and specials
-Upgrades
-No big gate you have to mass
-Probably nothing new (honestly what hasn't been done)

Progress:
-Terrain 33% The terrain brushes are close to complete, Now I need to design and landscape
-Unit Placing 0% This will be done last, and I'm thinking of instead of pre-placing just start the map with a spawn cycle
-Triggers 0% Triggers come after i finish parts of the terrain, not to worry triggers shouldn't be to complex
-Ideas 50% I got some good plans for the map but I need more.
-Testing 15% Done previous map testing, need a lot more.
-Total Completion 15% Shooting for 2 month completion, you know us lazy mappers though, might take longer.

[Update 3-8-08] Decided to scratch the original map, A lot of terrain brushes/concept finished and looking sexi

Ahem.

Err.. why didn't you wait to post until you had the info? :P What you've said is so vague that I really have no idea if it's any good or what.

1.) Not another helms deep map. . . You were right, there's already too many helms deep maps. . .

2.) Post information about the MAP itself, not the life story of how you found it.

3.) If you didn't have time, why post useless scraps of information?

4.) Sorry for being so harsh, but you aren't telling us about the PRODUCTION, and this is the Map PRODUCTIONS forum.

woops haven't been to SEN in awhile didn't see the new screen shot rule. So yea I posted so some of my friends that remember the map could be like "take out the blah blah blah that sucked" NE way if the mods don't delete ill try to get some screenies up asap.

Posting more info...

Sounds interesting, but I don't see how an invasion game works without massing, unless the troops are cut down and stronger than usual weak creeps. Could you please describe the process of that and the idea?

Well I was hoping on screenies Monday to make it easier, i hate how in a lot of invasion maps theres one huge choke point or big gate and if one of your team mate attackers leaves you can never get past the choke point. So instead of just "ladders" I'm making tons of entry points and ways to enter the fortress so everyone isn't putting all there men at one spot and watching.

Heros are going to be different too, instead of 8000 health and massive killing power the heros are going to have like 250-1000 health and a lot of armor, (Then the big cannons/catapults won't own them) with good not GG killing power, they won't be as powerful as other hero maps, but will be able to turn a battle around if used correctly.

To minimize unit usage I thought a pretty simple idea up. Instead of using Achean Archer, Trojan Archer, Achean Swordsman, Trojan Swordsman, Etc.. all the units will just be Archer, Swordsman, Etc.. less units, strings, and confusion. Less units means I can add more sub-heroes, and a hero shop which is always nice if your nooby and die go buy some Elite Warriors and get revenge.

Did I mention no gods? I'm going to drop in I'll explain more later... cya
