--- BLIZZCON® 2011 ANNOUNCED ---

Blizzard Entertainment’s sixth BlizzCon gaming celebration to be held at Anaheim Convention Center October 21-22, 2011
IRVINE, California -- February 7, 2011 -- Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for its sixth BlizzCon® gaming convention, to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22, 2011. BlizzCon is a celebration of the global player communities surrounding Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft®, StarCraft®, and Diablo® universes.

What could be better than spending two days checking out the latest versions of Blizzard games, watching eSports tournaments, and chatting with developers alongside a few thousand of your closest friends? We couldn't think of anything either, so we're bringing BlizzCon back in 2011! That's right, BlizzCon will be returning to the Anaheim Convention Center on Friday, October 21 through Saturday, October 22, and will feature an exciting mix of discussion panels, tournaments, hands-on gameplay, contests, and much more. Keep an eye on BlizzCon.com in the months ahead for further details, including ticketing information.

"We look forward to holding another exciting BlizzCon this year, filled with some great entertainment and competition, as well as the latest news about Blizzard games," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "BlizzCon is built from the ground up with our community in mind -- we're pleased to be able to host an event where players can come together to have fun and celebrate their passion for gaming."

In addition to serving as a gathering place for Blizzard Entertainment gaming communities, BlizzCon will offer attendees a chance to enjoy:
  • Hands-on play time with the latest versions of Blizzard Entertainment games
  • Discussion panels with Blizzard Entertainment developers
  • Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
  • Community contests with great prizes
  • Commemorative merchandise based on Blizzard Entertainment’s game universes
  • More activities and attractions to be announced
  • The previous BlizzCon was held in Anaheim in October 2010. Tickets to the event sold out in minutes, and some of the highlights included the unveiling of Diablo III's fifth and final playable character class, the demon hunter, and an epic closing concert featuring Tenacious D.

Further details about BlizzCon 2011, including ticket availability and pricing, will be announced on the official Blizzard website, www.blizzard.com, as the event draws closer.

--- StarCraft 1 Greatest Hits ---

Drant has made a map to feed nostalgia: A StarCraft II map in which you choose a StarCraft 1 map to play! The map includes such oldschool hits as:
  • BGH Phantom
  • Art of Defense
  • SCV Football
  • Block the Gate
  • Dodge the Rapist Rapierist

You can find this map on USEast by searching for "greatest" in the map search tool.

Red classic.

"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."

I personally am willing to work on porting some other "classics" as I believe those aren't meeting that much my like-list. :P

Isn't Drant the creator of Labyrinthos and consequently this: http://renaka.com/pages/starcraft/motd ?

If so, I assume he already knows the best classics :P, because I totally agree with his choices of maps...

Nevertheless... Offensive Strike, Bomb IraqSaudi Iraqia, Rainbow 6, Volleyball, Archon Tag, Worms, Normandy Invasion, and Temple Siege:awesome:(just kidding) isn't on there, and they're all on your list!

But I see what you did there, you made the ones that are easy to make and doesn't require level designing or too much balancing.

If you need my game design expertise (or whatever that's left of it, if I had any from the start).. just ask and I'll support.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

My classics would start with HGMA... :D
I'm a damned newschooler...
got internet to late :S

I'll most likely go again this year, especially if they announce Titan.

At their respective houses: I plan on biking from Montreal. :)
If I am not hired as a tree planter this summer, I'll probably go meet UV this summer, and then poison_us right after... and then I'll come back home. ^^

Pretty much all of Panzer's maps need to be remade.
Someone needs to make a new, kick ass version of Helms Deep. I liked Annatar because of the balance but with SC2 technology someone can make a way better map than Annatar, just make sure it is balanced!!! That's the only reason Annatar was played competitively.

I think with SC2 people shouldn't stay true to the classics they are making. I mean, you have no limitations that they did when first making it, so I say go crazy on the spells/options/etc. rather than just making a clone of the original but with SC2 graphics...

I know it isn't the same, but the Witch Doctor kind of summons things, just not in a dedicated fashion like the Necro. :/
