http://www.staredit.net/wiki/I was looking into some type of merge with SEN and a wiki before I left and I failed miserably at all attempts.
I just so happen to stumble upon an easy, though cheesy, solution.
So the rules are:
Your account needs to be made on wiki. To do this, create an account OR
just sign into wiki and it will auto create it for you. This biggest downside is your member ID's won't match, hopefully this won't come back to haunt me.
Your username and password will be the same as on SENBut until I have name changing work on both wiki and sen, name changes have been disabled.
I would HIGHLY recommend not changing your password (at EITHER location) because wiki and SEN have different password storing schemes, and who knows what trouble that might cause later. As time progresses, SEN and the wiki will be better linked, including auto-logging into the wiki once you are logged into SEN (I can already know how to do this, just have to code it).
NOTE: wiki will force your username to start with a capital letter. If this is an issue, don't log in at the moment. I may try to fix this soon.
NOTE: I'm not sure if all SEN names are usable on the wiki, again, I'll try to make them work if yours doesn't. Let me know.
NOTE: I'm not sure if I set up everything correctly yet ^_^ Guests should not be able to do anything but read.
And this brings us to:

As far as the old wiki, you can still access the articles by going to catergory -> article.
Links such as on the splash page are invalid, I'll update them later.

Nope. I typed it in a few times and I get the same message.

Successfully logged in. Why can't you have it auto-log you in? Can't you just pass along the username and password when a user enters the wiki?

I find wiki formatting confusing and would prefer BBcode formatting. Can anything be done about that?

I actually decided I like the old wiki more because it's nicer looking. What was wrong with the old wiki that you added this new one IP?
None.
The wiki will be nicer looking and match sen's many color schemes in time.
As far as bbcode, I don't think so? The source does look a bit messier, but I'm sure we'll all learn it easy as pie.
As far as why: Because the wiki can be a lot more resourceful, easier managed, look a lot nicer and formatted the same, and all the code is already done ^_^. A good wiki is an excellent knowledge resource, and afaik, there's simply nothing better. Coding anything similar would be way too time consuming and I'd rather write custom DLDB code and let the wiki be a wiki on it's own. There was a time where I wanted everything to be my own personal code, fully integrated, slim down to nothing but what SEN needed, but that ended up on just being silly.
With SC2, I'd assume map editing can be a lot more complex and articles linked together a lot more instead of just a simple list of tutorials sufficing.

IT HAS BEEN DONE.
One problem, though. "Category:Articles"? Non-existent. In fact, according to Special:AllPages, Main_Page is the only article in the main namespace, and there are no categories on the wiki at all. (The StarEdit Network namespace is likewise empty.) IOW the old articles are currently inaccessible. (And yes, I'm logged in.)

I can't just convert sen wiki articles to media wiki articles. Not entirely sure I would anyways, perhaps the wiki can just be sc2 material. That's really up to the wiki leaders / community.
How much effort do we put into preserving and staying with sc1?
None.

Enough so that the resources are there for anyone who needs them, imo. =/

I agree with ImagoDeo: we should keep the SC1 articles. Given that the old wiki is still accessible (though it wasn't when I checked earlier
), transferring and reformatting the articles should be a trivial task. The trick would be finding a way to organize them and standardize their formatting first.
(...meaning that it would be a good idea for everyone who feels like it to start collaborating on creating a Manual of Style. Wikipedia's MoS would be a good foundation to base it on.)
