DarkenedFantasies -- I think a 4th reason I just realized is that the building graphics also don't become visible again when appearing in the fading edge between visible and explored fog. He changed the tileset\install\dark.pcx file to make explored fog the same as unexplored, but pretty sure he did that to be obnoxious to the player rather than attempting to hide cloaked buildings.

DarkenedFantasies -- After looking at a playthrough video, since it's a mod, my guess is that they have one or more units either using a custom blank grp or cloaked & "Draw if Cloaked" off, and gave them the damage overlays for the flames. I suppose without a mod, the solution for creating them over cliffs and/or avoid collision with other units would have been to use lifted terran buildings but there are multiple reasons that make me think it's a modded unit: 1) You need detection/shared vision of the buildings and lose it to make them appear invisible, but the flames appear in direct view without any buildings flashing into existence. 2) I don't know if it's possible to get rid of the shadows left behind by the cloaked buildings without EUDs or modding. 3) None of them appear to have any collision with units walking next to them.

NudeRaider -- Without having seen the map I would assume they moved the bunker away (or removed it?) which makes the illusion perfect. Can't remember how exactly the procedure works though. SEN has the answer to that somewhere.

there were the burning things in some parts of map 2 (it was the only one protected) that I'd be curious about, looking like fires burning simply on the terrain. For a similar effect on one of my maps, I created a permacloaked bunker unit but I wondered if there's a better way.

Yeah, map theft used to be a fairly common thing back in the day, kind of strange behavior from today's perspective. I guess people just wanted to be lauded as awesome map makers by pubs or something. These days I would be less worried about someone taking my maps for credit and more worried about them making executive decisions about what should be changed and turning it into something I didn't approve of. But I also see maps that have been improved by various authors over time and wonder if it would be valuable to have my maps be open source to allow for that (which for me just means releasing the EE2 file since I don't use any map protectors these days, but EE2's process sort of does it by default)
