[2016-12-15. : 4:38 am] Lanthanide -- yeah, which just tells you it was designed poorly / wasn't designed with custom content in mindt[2016-12-15. : 4:38 am] Ahli -- SC2 is powerful, but power usually comes with the cost of minimum skill... It takes people a lot of effort to learn basic things in SC2...[2016-12-15. : 4:37 am] Lanthanide -- and because you didn't have a lot to work with, it was fun trying to come up with impressive effects by combining things together in clever ways[2016-12-15. : 4:37 am] Ahli -- SC1 is very limited and does not offer you hundreds of fields and elements that you can combine together[2016-12-15. : 4:36 am] Apos -- But maybe it was more fun for people to discover how to 'break' the game in SC1?[2016-12-15. : 4:35 am] Apos -- Not really an excuse though, SC1 probably had even less documentation[2016-12-15. : 4:34 am] Ahli -- well, SC2's documentation sucks. In case you figure it out, you can try to put the knowledge somewhere where people find it...[2016-12-15. : 4:33 am] rockz -- Armor after damage response would be ridiculous as you'd only need 6 armor to negate down to nothing[2016-12-15. : 4:28 am] Ahli -- rockzrockz shouted: So another example: 55% damage response, -5 damage response, maximumclamp(25) for damage in range of 20-100, 6 armor total, -5 damage per armor point, 200x2 attacks without the clamp, it makes sense... [110 - (6 * (-5))] * 0.55 + (-5) = 39[2016-12-15. : 4:20 am] Lanthanide -- like being able to use mind-control as a DA (pretty damn difficult to trigger)[2016-12-15. : 4:18 am] rockz -- So another example: 55% damage response, -5 damage response, maximumclamp(25) for damage in range of 20-100, 6 armor total, -5 damage per armor point, 200x2 attacks[2016-12-15. : 4:18 am] Lanthanide -- FaRTy1billionFaRTy1billion shouted: Lanthanide do you think it's best to just get one off the shelf, or will it be worthwhile to try and cobble something together? All he does else with a computer is check email and look at pictures, and sometimes might watch a youtube video or something I have no idea what benefits you'd get from buying pre-built vs building yourself. The first thing to consider really is price; it's feasible than an old-the-shelf cheap PC will be cheaper than anything you can build[2016-12-15. : 4:17 am] Lanthanide -- AposApos shouted: @lanthanide, I found a guy that only plays your map I used to only play my map, too[2016-12-15. : 4:15 am] Ahli -- it's not like sc1's damage model where armor is subtracted first and the remaining amount is scaled... it's the other way around in the sc2 engine[2016-12-15. : 4:15 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- he's currently using like a years-old netbook that can barely run or do anything xD[2016-12-15. : 4:14 am] Ahli -- btw, remember that armor modifies the damage after the damage response[2016-12-15. : 4:14 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- LanthanideLanthanide shouted: FaRTy1billion yeah well that's what I meant - a new game comes out that he decides he wants to play. from what you've said it sounds unlikely, though, so future-proofing may not be so important. basically if he will only *ever* use the computer for that game, then yeah just get the chaepest you can, but if there's a chance he'll use it for anything else - office, web surfing, other/newer games, then I think spending a bit more would be sensible do you think it's best to just get one off the shelf, or will it be worthwhile to try and cobble something together? All he does else with a computer is check email and look at pictures, and sometimes might watch a youtube video or something[2016-12-15. : 4:12 am] rockz -- That involves recreating the entire map, which I don't have galaxy edit access to[2016-12-15. : 4:12 am] rockz -- I guess the regeneration kicks in immediately, so SC rounds it to 8 instead of the actual 9?[2016-12-15. : 3:58 am] Ahli -- I assume fraction (0.55) is first, then modify amount (-5) and in the end the maximumClamp (14)[2016-12-15. : 3:42 am] rockz -- does anyone know how behavior stacking/damage order of operations works in SC2? Say I have a behavior that sets damage taken to 55%, maximum damage taken to 14, and damage taken to -5?[2016-12-15. : 3:40 am] KrayZee -- Well I haven't been on Battle.net in forever, and I recall 'map night[2016-12-15. : 3:35 am] Lanthanide -- needed EUD conditions for it though, so it would have been PC only and not work on MACs[2016-12-15. : 3:35 am] Lanthanide -- I never got around to doing my final killer feature though - instant upgrades[2016-12-15. : 3:35 am] Lanthanide -- I'm not surprised, since the quality level was so much higher than all the others out there[2016-12-15. : 3:35 am] lil-Inferno -- KrayZeeKrayZee shouted: no it means always play phantom and nothing else No you pleb, it means diplomacy |
