Blizzard is trying to fucking milk us! They are already making a lot of money from WoW. They probably are also avoiding some taxes through p2p subjects.

Apparently, they're each going to come out a year apart, so we'll get to see Terran much earlier? Eh.

Betcha ten bucks there will be a tonne of filler in the missions.

Yay Syphon is back! I hope they do come out between several months. Especially with D3 and SC2 because I don't want to fall behind. What is a tonne of filler?

Missions that don't do anything to advance the story, but you still have to play through their objectives.

Wow, I bet there is. I hate how Blizzard changed under new management.

Chuiu, in the other topic, said that they might have features on Battle.net that cost money. Discuss.

That was IskatuMesk. I honestly doubt they will and it will be a huge mistake if they do.

EDIT: Then again I could be wrong:

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/blizzards-wilson-some-battle-net-features-to-be-monetized/

"We are looking to monetize Battle.Net so that we get to keep making these games and updating features," said Wilson. "We kind of have to."

BULL. SHIT. Blizzard is milking us for even MORE money.
Well that's definitely something that would make me second guess buying SC2. I never thought I'd actually ever say that.

WoW didn't screw anyone over on content, its a very content rich game. We just don't like it because its an MMO.

Just Here For The Pie

F*ck, I was saving that money to buy Mirror's Edge, Left 4 Dead, and Resident Evil 5! Not to buy StarCraft II Episode 1, StarCraft II Episode 2, and StarCraft II Episode 3. (lol, Half-Life 2 style)

I think the idea was that the other two games would be considered as the "expansions" kindof a thing.

Honestly at this point I'm going to wait and see. At this point I'm probably not going to buy D3 or SC2 on launch day to be stuck with a $50 paperweight, I've been screwed over too many times. I really thought that with a blizzard game you can't go wrong but defiantly after some of these recent announcements I'm starting to second guess myself. The whole triolgy sounded like expansion packs so I was thinking "okay I can deal with that", but battle.net being like xbox live? Forget it. Blizzard needs to remember its roots.

I don't think its going to be completely like xboxlive, but they definitely sound like they're going to charge for shit in battle.net. But what are you going to charge for anyway? Server transfers and account renames? :P

I don't know. It better not be a subscription fee.

I'm probably one of the bigger SC fans there is. I spent a good portion of the last decade making SC map making websites and making SC maps. If I'm second guessing SC2, there's something wrong.

Blargh, a marketing gimmick and an excuse to not code everything by the first release date. I was all excited when SC2 was announced and all that excitement is dwindling. I just don't game that much anymore anyway..

And if SC2 involves any kind of ongoing charge, forget it. It's like Blizzard is trying to out-do the (not Southwest) airlines.

I remember playing the old campaigns and wishing they'd been longer. I don't want there to be filler of course, but if they think of a damn good reason for there to be more missions, then I'm all for it. A good story is never too long, IMO (of course, the reverse to that saying is that a bad story is never too short).

If you're planning to buy the game anyway, why bitch? My friends in RL are doing it, but then I tell them that if the news upsets them so much then they should NOT buy the game in order to show Blizzard that they don't appreciate the ploy. That shut them up, because they are planning to buy the games anyway, like I am. I think that some people just go around looking for an excuse to get worked up. I agree with Yoshi, Blizzard has yet to screw its fans on content (I happen to like all of their franchises, and don't consider WoW, WC3, and the Diablo series to be subpar). They deserve a little more trust.

Buy One Game. Find another person that has bought all games.
Extract Campaign Files.
Add.
WTF?

Heh, now the artist comes out in me. I don't have a problem buying 3 games if Blizzard has truly made 3 games worth of material. As an artist, I would want people to be grateful enough for my work to spend money on it instead of finding a way to steal it.

An interesting assumption. I have no biff with MMO's. Here's my reason:
Quote from Kaias
I only really care how the story ends anyway, now I'll have to wait even longer and pay even more.

The worst is that they know they can get away with it because everyone will buy them anyway. That's a lot of extra money for the same game. You know what I really hated about WoW? They designed the game to draw it out, keep you stringing along, get you hooked and keep you playing. They sacrificed a more entertaining and intuitive game for a more profitable one. What I see here is an effort to make more money and to get the game out sooner so as to not piss people off at more delays. Too bad that this 'alternative' is more frustrating than a release setback.

You cannot make a great game, if it does not generate revenue. Not enough anyways...

But lets just say this:
The company (now merged) is:

Example
StarCraft II generates $50 Million
Blizzard Spends $30 Million Working on the game
Operating Costs $10 Million
End Result $10 Million.

Remember, that was an EXAMPLE. But it wouldn't be profitable (as in a large scale).

Teraunce, the ^

/me has 2nd thoughts about SC2...
/me is also wondering if it will be possible to play Starcraft Maps in Starcraft 2 if they include legacy units (err...original units) that are available in the map editor.

Wont work, especially not because the expansions are adding units to multiplayer:
